I didn't get the dementor reference when I first read it, but when I saw Kim's getup, I got it, and I've never even seen the Potter series or read the books. I think she was making a Black Lives Matter reference, or something. But she looks like a ponygirl. This op-ed isdissecting the fact that for the first time social influencers have been invited to the event. I've never heard of this Addison Rae person, but then I'm an old fuddy duddy who thinks for herself. |

Dang it to hell, I love it! Me too. I have read nothing about this outfit in the press yet (just the posts here), so this is my (probably misguided) hot take. I feel like there are deep statements that can be read into that outfit about the recent assault on women’s right in this country (and others). That is, that the outfit speaks to how this disregard for women reduces her individuality and personality to literal nothingness—a mere shadow. |

Someone said that the reason Kim is going out in all these full coverings is because she just had work done and is waiting for it to settle. I bet that’s it. Either that or she’s really covid conscious. Now that many of us have seen Ocean's 8, I think we've got a decent idea of what it's like inside the Met Gala. So during the dinner, did Kim just sit there not eating? Because I have a lot of questions. |

I love this take, and wish this was the case, but Kim and Kardashians in general strike me as simply too superficial and vapid to wear this outfit for anything other than attention. |

She "clapped back" at people who didn't like it by saying "what's more American than a head-to-toe t-shirt?" so I think you gave her far too much credit. |
