It's pretty awful that my reaction is "Oh, so you're staying it's not like those other places where we expect shootings to happen because they regularly do?".

Obviously this is not how she meant it. But I also refuse to call my reaction unreasonable.

1 person (besides the shooter- who was killed) in the crowd was killed. Two others are critically injured.

Honestly, I distrust everything and everyone around him. I wouldn't put it past the campaign to claim some dude dying of heatstroke as one of the deaths.

And the campaign set up a GoFundMe for the families.. two thoughts came through as I heard that tidbit.. 1) I thought he was rich? Why isn't he footing the bills and 2) 10 bucks Donald is the beneficiary of that gofundme

The spectator who died was shot in the head. There are interviews with people who tried to revive them covered in blood. I know people hate Trump, but come on. This is not a staged event. Please.

Maybe not staged but that man has stoked so much hatred and violence since 2016 that it was inevitable. It was never going to take much more to radicalize someone on either side of the ideological line

I'm sorry that individual is dead, that is certainly a tragedy for his family.

It's certainly not staged in the sense of being a false flag. But I don't think it's completely out of the realm of possibility that it was engineered by some Rep operative to illicit sympathy and support for Trump. Plenty of criminals think that they can commit their crime w/o injuring anyone. And I still haven't heard an explanation for why a registered Republican went after Trump - or what actually hit Trumps ear.

What we know about the deputy charged with killing Sonya Massey in her home after she called 911 for help.

Grayson had worked at six law enforcement agencies in Illinois since 2020, according to the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.
He began working part-time with Pawnee police in August 2020, then moved to the Kincaid and Virden police departments, before taking up full-time work with Auburn police, the Logan County Sheriff’s Office and – in May 2023 – Sangamon County.
It is unclear why Grayson changed jobs so frequently and CNN has reached out to the other law enforcement agencies for more information.
Court records indicate Grayson was charged with two DUI misdemeanor offenses in Illinois’ Macoupin County – one in 2015 and the other in 2016.

I didn’t watch the video of Sonya Massey being murdered (and I use that word deliberately). I just can’t. I DO NOT understand how it is so incredibly hard to just not kill people. So many things about this shooting were poorly handled from the very beginning. The killer, Sean Grayson, had multiple chances to deescalate, but he was just jonesing to be a tough guy. He had SIX different jobs in the past four years and two DUIs. I thought a DUI got you kicked off the force. And two complaints against him.

And people need to stop calling Sonya Massey old, elderly, and a granny. She was 36. That’s hardly even middle-aged! She had plenty of years left to spend with her kids.

The Guardian is reporting that a major prisoner swap involving journalist Evan Gershkovich and former US Marine Paul Whelan is underway. I heard on the NPR that the Russians being returned include people who were held in various countries. If this is accurate, it involved a huge diplomatic effort.
