Seriously, Bond fans are the craziest. (Let Sean Connery go, already, and accept the total brilliance of On her Majesty's Secret Service). But boycott the movie because it will suck, not because of Daniel Craig. I think Quentin Tarantino's is being all sour grapes about being asked for advice & then dumped by the project, but he has the right idea - at this point, the only way to really reinvigorate the franchise would be to hire a visionary writer/director. And the crazy site says that Bond can't even smoke, now? Lame, lame, lame.
Oh, man, I did love him in the Mother. He was strangely hot in that film....
However, getting his teeth knocked out on such an easy stunt and having his fancy dentist flown in from London made me laugh so hard. Whoops!

I've only seen him in Layer Cake and Munich and hasn't been impressed that much in either. Not a Bond fan, but still think Clive would have made a better Bond. He's got a nice body but he's too short for my taste, something than I can forego only in people like Johnny and Joaquin.

I'd never even heard of him before I saw him in The Mother, and when I searched the Internet for him, I couldn't believe it was the same guy from some of the photos I found. Looking hot in The MotherLooking far from hot. It's fascinating!

On the "Bonus Look Alikes" page they compare him to Agent Cody Banks.

Okay, now it just gets worse for him - Daniel Craig can't even drive the Aston Martin. I know I could be wrong, but aren't the majority of European cars stick-shifts? (I think EW had an article on things you need to learn if you're on the Amazing Race and driving stick was one of them because of the cars overseas) And given Craig's age, shouldn't he be familar with a manual transmission? Man, if that fan website is true and they went for Craig because they're cheap bastards, they must really regret that right now. Like, we know Clive's a good driver from the BMW films. Apparently Mr. Owen has a cameo in the new Pink Panther as "Bond."

Quite a few Europeans I know can't really drive. They've all driven at some point, but if they live in Paris or London or Amsterdam etc., they don't bother to have a car, and are actually a little reluctant to drive.
It wouldn't surprise me if Craig just doesn't have that much experience behind any wheel.
I don't really know from European cars in general, but I know that most cabs in Europe aren't stick shift. Neither are most rental cars. (I know because I prefer stick shift.)

Clive would have been a much better Bond. But would he have taken it anyway? Maybe I am of the wrong mindset, but I think it's such a cheesy role.

Aside from the fact that yes, Europeans have better public transport and therefore not so much experience driving, why would a man accept a role as James Bond and not be able to drive the automobile that is most identified with the character?

I always kind of assumed they used stunt drivers, so I'm not sure what the big deal is... am I missing something?

Anyway, can't he just LEARN to drive it? I don't think it's a big deal.
