Archbishop Desmond Tutu was a man of integrity, compassion, and joy. So much joy.
RIP.

It's hard to think of anyone else who spoke such truth to power, and who used his pulpit to bring the world together in peace and love. May his memory be a blessing to us all...

I woke up to a news alert about that this morning. I read the article and didn't realize how many things I've seen that he directed. That is so young--I wonder what happened? This feels particularly tragic because he was clearly at the top of his game and had a lot more left in him. The other news alert I woke up to was the death of E.O. WilsonHe was 92, so while there's not the same sense of tragedy as when someone younger dies, it seems particularly sad when it's someone who is as influential as Wilson. There's a famous quote of his that I heard repeated recently and it won't stop rolling around in my head: "The real problem of humanity is the following: we have Paleolithic emotions, medieval institutions, and god-like technology."

I read that Jean Marc Vallée died of a sudden heart attack. Very tragic, very young.
