Oh dear, now that - as someone from said Colonial country - I do have an issue with if she did that; while I wouldn’t qualify as a Woke person in many respects, nor would I want to, I do think all the Sub-continental spoils need to be returned to us stat, with interest. And while that’s a larger issue and not one that Camilla will be weighing in on either way, I am disappointed that she would wear Colonial legacy jewels unapologetically.

I looked up Andrew PB, I’m not sure I can see the irresistible to women thing, but I am tempted to skim through riders to check out the character. I have heard the same, that not only was Camilla’s husband ok with the affair, he took some smugness in the fact that it should be with the Prince. I guess UK Aristos seem quite French in many ways.

I think Camilla would have married Charles back in the day, but he was very close to Lord Mountbatten, who pushed him to sow his wild oats and then marry a nice respectable girl who had no previous lovers (and who also pushed towards his own granddaughter Amanda Knatchbull as a potential bride.) Camilla got tired of him messing her about, and Andrew was ready to get married.

I suspect any precious gemstone mined in the 20th c and earlier, from the British royal jewels to my mother's graduation gift ring, has a tainted legacy.

I'm not defending the wearing of jewelry with a provable historical legacy of colonial oppression, just observing that pretty much *all* older gemstones have that legacy.

Camilla speaking out on domestic abuse in a UK magazine:

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall continues to speak up for women who have survived abuse.

The Duchess, 74, penned a powerful letter to highlight a "tragic statistic" — one that hasn't changed in many years.

"Two women are killed every week by a current or former former partner in England and Wales," she wrote in the latest issue of WI Life, which is sent to members of the Women's Institute. "This tragic statistic has not altered in several decades. Thousands of lives have been lost."

She also noted that abuse can take many forms, including economic and coercive control, and that it affects people from all backgrounds, ethnicities and ages. Witness: One in four women still live with abuse in this homes.

"As our knowledge of different types of abuse increases," she wrote, "so must our efforts to raise awareness to empower victims to recognise the signs and to seek help."

Continued respect for Camilla for making this one of her key issues.
