With the wave of support Amber has right now (or at least people who are voicing outrage about the verdict), I am wondering why nobody has set up a GoFundMe for her? Or no celebrities have announced they are contributing to a legal fund for her? (There was a GoFundMe which was cancelled for being a scam.) She does not appear to have the means or earning power to pay the bulk of the judgment, and her appeal is unlikely to be successful.

The wave of support *I* am seeing is really pretty minimal. And I thought it was well established her homeowners insurance would pay? I would be astonished to see any celebrity publicly contributing to her defense—rightly or wrongly she seems way too controversial for that and that particular group is surely waiting to see if Johnny can fully make a comeback before doing anything ‘against’ him. I know this specific case is very unusual but have there been—for example—a wave of GoFundMes to help Evan Rachel Wood with her legal fees? Her case is much less controversial, if also lower profile but I wouldn’t expect to see an outpouring of monetary support from the general public (nor does it seem to exist).

Other than like OhNoTheyDidnt and some posts here, I have not seen a single kind or supporting thing for her. From social media to mass media, everyone seems to hate her with the passion of a thousand suns. Even my mom forum, which is typically large and pro women, despises her. I think the studio wanted her gone for a while but couldn’t make it happen because of the potential backlash of firing an abuse victim. Now that a court of law basically called her a liar, they have the green light to cut her out. I don’t see anyone in Hollywood risking their popularity to help her and the general public definitely won’t. Plus, she likely has enough to cover the cost. Her career is definitely over though.
I feel they were both abusive and I hate how Depp is being deified over this.

I know this specific case is very unusual but have there been—for example—a wave of GoFundMes to help Evan Rachel Wood with her legal fees? I wasn't referring to legal fees, which are believed to be paid by Amber's homeowners insurance. I was referring to the judgement itself ($10.35 million which she has to post bond for in order to file an appeal) which Amber's lawyer told the media she has no way of paying. If Evan Rachel Wood is in a financial bind over the Manson case, she certainly has not said anything about it publicly. The media has overwhelmingly sided with Amber, posting headline after headline about how the judgment was "an orgy of misogyny" and the like. On Reddit there is a long, long list of celebrities who have publicly voiced their support of her - too many for me to list because there are hundreds, but all well known names. If they are bold enough to do that, certainly they could kick in an anonymous $10 to help her out? Among the public, Depp seems to have a larger, more dedicated and more vocal fans, but I have seen plenty of support for Amber too. It's not non-existent.

I see there are many gaps in my knowledge! I assumed (among other things) the insurance covered the judgment as well and of course different people will have different media experiences. I am still not really sure what you're getting at or why the lack of monetary support is all that surprising, I guess I have a lower opinion of people's general generosity than you do!

She's still a name. B Movies will probably be her future in Hollywood.

Maybe because people were judging Momoa for even liking her tweet and showing her the least little bit of support? You honestly think that the people in Hollywood are going to stand up and support her against Depp right now and put their own career in jeopardy? The Depp-heads are gross and vicious. If Depp had any sense at all, he'd take this win as a sign, go check into rehab and get his bloated, disgusting self, straightened out. But he won't. He'll most likely celebrate by getting even more fucked up. So much talent wasted.

Here's the list of celebrities publicly supporting Amber on social media, put together on Reddit/FauxMoi subreddit. -Removed my terrible math.-
I think the lack of support for Amber is being greatly exaggerated. Liberal media sources (NY Times, Guardian, Washington Post, New Yorker, Time, ABC News, Variety, Rolling Stone, Slate) have all written extensive editorials in Amber's favor. The social media sites I visit (Oh No They Didn't and the subreddit mentioned above) are rabidly pro-Amber.
Even at the trial when they were comparing pro-Johnny and pro-Amber hashtags, the pro-Amber hashtags still got tens of millions of views, they were just LESS viewed than Johnny's.

Amber Heard has fired her attorney Elaine Bredehoft and hired a new legal team for her appeal. Ben Rottenborn, who was actually a good attorney and effective in the courtroom, is staying on her legal team. Anyone who watched this trial could see that Elaine was a terrible courtroom attorney. She could barely form proper questions, was constantly being objected to, getting on the judge's nerves, and likely the jury's as well. It was frustrating to watch her and a couple of times the judge had to tell her, "why don't you ask the question this way" when she'd get flustered and say "I'm trying, your honor."
