Yeah, it's too easy to blame just Trump. They're all complicit.

I was just coming to post that! This warms my cold dead heart. I won't have to listen to his loud-mouth antics anymore in my house! (I hope?) ETA: They shut it down just a few minutes ago. All his sites are offline and they've escorted him out of the building. Nice. Wikipedia already is referencing the show in the past tense. SourceHAHAHAHAHA -- I swear, the comedy of all this happening in the wake of a devastating result of last week's election is concerning. However, I couldn't care less because we're all going to go down together and I'd rather go down laughing than crying. I've resigned to the fact that they're going to destroy our country and can only hope that in 2 or 4 years, we can take it back. Hopefully

My mother lives in Matt Gaetz congressional district, and she feels the same way about him. It would be kind of funny if this is Trump's unintended way to clean the swamp -- appoint all these people, have them leave their elected jobs, then get mad at them in a couple of weeks and fire them all! I heard a Republican on NPR this morning (sorry, it was early and I didn't get the name) saying that the House GOP members were delighted he was nominated, because that meant they were rid of him. It would be funny if there were enough horrified Senate Republicans to deny his confirmation, but that's not going to happen.

I don't think that 100% of Trump's picks are going to get confirmed. I think the big question will be how many they decide to deny. Earlier this week, I thought that Pete Hegseth would not get through. Now, with picks that are worse, he may get a pass. I think that right now Gaetz and Gabbard are the two most likely to be denied. I don't buy into the thinking that Senate Republicans are gong to rubber stamp all of them. If that was the mindset of the Republican Senators, I think Rick Scott would have been elected majority leader yesterday.

I think Rick Scott would have been elected majority leader yesterday But that's the Senate Majority Leader. That's someone that they'd have to deal with directly and who is supposed to lead and be the face of their party in the Senate. That's vastly different than confirming Trump's Administration Cabinet picks. I could see them giving the ol' rubber stamp on that, but not with Rick Scott.

When the point I made is edited down to such a small piece, I don't think it holds the same meaning. I am going to stand behind the entirety of what I said. Donald Trump endorsed Rick Scott for the majority leader. The Republicans in the senate sent a signal that they are not cooperating with what Trump wants just because he said it. Yes, there are difference between that and the confirmation process - the biggest being a closed door vote vs a public vote. But I've seen a lot of people concluding that the Senate will do whatever Trump tells them to do. The first tea leaf we've been given to read challenges that "conventional wisdom".

I have the barest smidgen of a whisper of a hope that Gaetz (and the other woefully unqualified people up for big positions, like Gabbard and Hegseth) will get a thumbs-down from the Senate, because it's possible that there are a (very) few GOP Senators left who want to be able to say, "See? We aren't just rubber-stamping him!"

While the map was favorable to Republicans in terms of seats that had to be defended in 2024, I think depending on retirements it could be slightly favorable to Democrats in 2024. That means Republicans up for re-election have to start being careful now.

He did it. RFK, Jr., the vaccine skeptic, appointed Secretary of HHS.
Wonder if the divorce in on hold. Cheryl's going shopping for an inauguration dress.
