I'm just so frustrated at some of the attacks on him. And honestly, my heart is kinda breaking for the man. He'd dedicated his life to service. He has legit been one of the very best presidents in my lifetime. And when you factor in the degree of difficulty because of Trumpism and Covid - what he has accomplished is inspiring. And instead of being lauded for his accomplishments - he's being attacked by his own party. By people he's considered friends for decades, by people who are attacking his ability to do the job he is still currently doing and doing well? And increasingly it is becoming clear to me that the root of this is coming from a core of rich elite businessmen who clearly have too much power because of their money.

And to be the target of all this ... when the other guy is Trump? Legitimately the worst human being to ever sit in that white house? The single biggest danger to this country in history? WTF is wrong with our party? How can a small group of people have so much power? It's insane to me.

And watching the pain that so many of the black political organizers/activists I respect are feeling because of having their votes dismissed is a whole other gut punch. In what was practically her last moments, Sheila Jackson Lee tweeted out for the Dems to unite behind Joe. That woman was fighting for this country till her last breath. What the hell is wrong with people? With this country? I'm just sick.

If anyone needs another reason to stop the “Biden should drop out!” nonsense: the latest “Dem” to call for it is Joe fekkin’ Manchin.

Or do we need to hear from Kirsten Sinema before we can see we’re being played like a $2 banjo?

Genuine question: for those who think the push to get Biden out is coming from elites in the Dem party- why? What is their desire/why do you think they want him out?

Honestly I think it's because they want to remain in power. They've come think that Biden can't win so they want someone who has a shot. Especially since Republicans are open about wanting to reshape the balance of power so the Dem's influence would be even less than ever before. Politics is a cynical business.

I listen to Larry Wilmore's podcast occasionally and he made a good point recently. There have never been "Biden Heads" the way Dems loved Obama and Republicans loved George W. Bush and now Trump. Biden was trailing among the potential nominees until South Carolina came through strongly for him in the primary and that's what put him back in the race. But it was because it was seen as Biden being able to beat Trump, not that people were in love with Biden. It was a more transactional relationship. And now we're in that same position again. We need someone to beat Trump.

And it is a shame because Biden has done some great things in his tenure as president. But, yeah, he's also looking super old. My mom is a year younger than him and she looks like a doddering old lady. My dad is a few years older than him and even though he's in pretty good shape for his age there is no way in the world I could imagine him being able to stand up to the pressures of that job. Trump can't either. It's just such a messed up situation.

This is the only place I’ve seen on the internet and other places that was pro-Joe not stepping down. The ONLY place. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next and I’m more optimistic going forward. There seems to be a general malaise about the choice of these two old white men, again. And while yes, the world SHOULD be yelling that the convicted felon should step down, but do the MAGAts ever do the right thing? Ever? They’d never urge their cult leader to step down, never. Something had to give, and I’m sorry but Biden’s decline has been more and worse as it goes on. He shouldn’t have run for re-election in the first place.

And I like Joe Biden, and watching this play out has not been pleasant. I understand it’s a garbage decision to have to take a look at your life’s work, and your LIFE, and put on the brakes. But it’s long past time.
