We should start a charitable foundation to help people afflicted with prettiness get hideous plastic surgery. Who will think of the pretty? It would be awesome if she made some other obnoxious comment in an interview and the reporter replied, with a totally straight face, "Well, why don't you permanently uglify yourself? The Foundation of Uglifying Greecies (FUG) has raised enough money to make you the fuggest fug that ever fugged. Go for it! Reach for that rainbow!" Her reaction would be priceless. I'd make a donation to FUG for that! We could tape it and sell the video and make even more money!

I thought the Greecies already did. ;D
If we did, it would be in better shape.

Her face ALWAYS looks like she's trying really hard to hold a sneeze in. She's all pinched. That's what it is! I was trying to think what's so weird looking about her face ( other than the fact that she's pretty, but not quite the burdensome beauty she seems to think). Gorgeous dress, but her face just looked shiny and weird and her hair looked like nothing special.

Why am I having flashbacks to Kelly LeBrock's Pantene commercials? "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful..."My cat is prettier than Evangeline Lilly (look left).

I think she looks much prettier in her T-shirts and shorts, with mussed hair and "no" makeup, on "Lost" than she does when she gets dolled up for an awards show or photo shoot. I like her against my better judgment because she's built just like I am yet has managed to succeed in Hollywood.

I think the other actresses on the show are much prettier, and why the producers insist on promoting this talentless girl is a mystery to me. Yunjin Kim - luminous. And acted the first half of season one without ever saying a word in English. And still managed to act circles around Evie.

I knew I had to come to this thread after reading this particular bon mot from In Style Makeovers at the gym: Don't worry Evie, there are plenty of people who wouldn't think of you as just good looking. In addition to/ instead of good looking, they may think of you as annoying, ridiculous, etc. Anyone else see her carpet ads? They've been in some magazine I get, Real Simple, probably. The worst is in the sweater dress[/color] with the cowl-neck that's trying to swallow her.

The producers are infatuated, to be sure, but Kate was always designed as *the* lead female character from the first scripts (even moreso initially, as the original plan was to kill off Jack halfway through the pilot, with Kate emerging as the leader of the island), before they'd even auditioned Evie. I think another actress could do more with the role (though EL doesn't bother me), but the biggest problem with the character is the writing. I think she has a point about the consequences of beauty, but I'm not sure she's articulate enough to make it.

Imagine what a fantastic actress could have done with this role. I know Yunjin auditioned for it, and they wrote the part of Sun for her instead - but I think she really could have pulled this off.
