He's adorable. Every time I see him on Leno I just die. Basically I can't say anything that hasn't already been said. His talent has passed to his offspring because I think Bryce is really good actress (imo) and seems like a nice person just like her pops.

Really?! I love that episode! I like Ron Howard too, but have nothing to add because you all mentioned all the things I like about him.
Just to add snark - he's bald.
Sorry, that was mean. It was getting a bit too positive in this thread.

I love Ron Howard! Everything I've heard about him says that he really is the genuinely nice guy he comes across as, which is rare at his level of talent and exposure. He's married to his High School sweetie and his marriage has lasted more than some folks multiple marriages combined. Catch him some time in "The Music Man" as the adorable little kid with the lisp.

Funny story about that. I watched some behind the scenes special on the MTV Movie Awards and Producers talked about how that lifetime achievement award was initially a joke. They gave it to Chewbacca and Godzilla and a bunch of stupid stunts like that. They nominated Clint because the dude is EVERYWHERE and when he came to accept it, he was so touched and welling up and Ron was there and they were like "Um, maybe this isn't such a joke. The guy has a long and varied career and is extremely talented but never gets credit for it." and that was the year they stopped making it a joke.
I like Ron. I'm not a fan of his movies. I feel like all of them now are pretty much just made for the sheer purpose of getting Oscars but I love him as a person. I feel like he and Jodi Foster are the two people that child stars always mention in hope that they might also have a long career.

I guess I like Ron, and am eternally grateful for Arrested Development, but man, A Beautiful Mind was a steaming pile. He's batting about .500 for me, film-wise. But if that story about Jenna Elfman and the Dianetics book is true, his stock goes up big time.

Oh, thank God there's no horrid gossip in here about him being an asshole or eating puppies or baking cookies. I've already had my Denzel love shattered. I couldn't handle it if Opie was a jerk.

I'm on the fence about his movies - loved some, was meh on some. But he always seems like such a nice guy - and I loved his narration on AD - that I can't help but love ole Opie.

Oh word about his brother's MTV Award-- he gave this totally awesome speech and it was totally touching and I think I actually shed a tear.
I'm always suddenly realizing that I like the Howards-- but I don't generally dig Ron's movies. I loooove AD, but man, his movies are bland.

He even showed up in the mideighties reunion "movie", right about the time he was having his first major success as a director. That alone makes me think a lot of him, because it would have been really easy to have stayed away so that he would be taken more "seriously", and I'm sure Andy would have even understood that. But to show up, and play Opie one last time, was an awesome, awesome thing to do.
And from what I've read about his daughter, she's no Fishstick, or Angie, but seems genuinely nice, with a good work ethic, and well grounded. I think that shows that she, also, was "raised right", so go Opie.

Awww. I never realized that he was such a great guy. I got a tear in my eye reading about the Andy Griffith reunions and stuff. Ron Howard might be my new favorite person!
That said, I usually find his movies enjoyable but pretty manipulative and that tends to grate. However, I am totally excited about The DaVinci Code. It looks like it might rule. Plus, Hanks + Howard = awesome.
