Can I get a Sam Lufti refresher? I'm not sure when he came on the scene, but he was Britney's "manager" after her apparent breakdown. He's alleged to be a grifting, predatory scumbag. Link.OT: I just had to look up whether Alli Sims, the young woman that was involved when that whole mess was going down, was really related to Britney because I never knew if she was or not. I guess she was only related by marriage. I never understood why she didn't get get more condemnation. While I think that Lufti definitely deserves most of it, I just feel that she got away with enabling Britney's behavior too.

Yeah. But she was laughed at and mocked for trying to score a pop career out of her Britney connection, and she promptly faded into obscurity after shit went down. So I guess that is a fitting end to her celebrity.

Thanks guys. I knew he wasn't a nice guy, but I couldn't remember the details. Hopefully the Bynes family have lawyers ready to go in the event that Lufti tries to start something.

I know people have mentioned the age of her parents, and I'm sure it's incredibly tough to handle. But my nephew's parents are 65 and 70, and their 30+ schizophrenic son will always live with them. Granted, they started the process more than 10 years ago when their seemingly normal son started setting fires at college and chased his mother with a knife. But it's still a hard life even with him stabilized. Medications needs to be changed, and the meds themselves are now causing him heart problems. It's still a fluid and daily battle.
I guess the point is that you do what you have to do for your child. And my sister doesn't have the money that Amanda has but has still gotten him great care. It still sticks with me that her mother announced that Amanda had no mental illness whatsoever and was perfectly fine! You know that bs didn't come from any medical professional. Hopefully they see the light now before this girl kills someone or herself (and now that she's so furious with her parents - even them).

Since they orchestrated another involuntary hold, right now I can believe the theory that Amanda's mother said that to lull Amanda into thinking that her mom was on her side.

But she said it months ago, right? It was after Amanda was seemingly back on track, in school, and doing well. Right after her last breakdown. Mom threw that statement out there when there was no reason yet to appease Amanda. She even announced that she needed no medication as though they were placing a huge stigma on mental illness.

It's possible, I haven't been following closely. I thought TMZ et al had quoted the mother much more recently, like within the last fortnight. Even if she said it months ago, I wonder, based on some of the things that have been going on, if Amanda somehow badgered her mom into it, like, "tell them I'm okay!"

Could be (I don't read everything either). I just side-eyed why the conservatorship expired (anyone pay enough attention to know if they had no choice?), and this girl was left to run amok just as she did before. I guess I just come to it from the perspective of watching my sister and her husband nearly kill themselves (and they even moved to a state with better care for him) to keep their son safe and under their care for over 10 years.

I would be concerned about setting up something so that the child could continue to be cared for in case the parents were to become incapacitated. Heaven forbid one or both of Amanda's parents were to develop dementia/Alzheimer's and then die. (I've seen that happen to a family member. Long story short - it was a big old mess for years.) Making contingency plans for the worst case scenario would be a good idea too. ETA: Someone leaked more info to TMZ, but this may be good news. Doctors are trying to get a conservatorship over Amanda so they can confine her for up to one year. Why the doctors and not her parents? Her parents wouldn't be able to compel her to get treatment even if they were to get a conservatorship, but doctors can.
