Another day, another BBC America co-production to announce: Jason Isaacs (*melt*) and Sharon Gless star in the gripping six-part conspiracy thriller, State Within. Set in the diplomatic worlds of Britain and the U.S., it stars Isaacs as Mark Brydon, British Ambassador to the U.S., and Gless as Lynne Warner, U.S. Secretary of Defense.

The drama takes place over 17 days in the life of the British Ambassador, following a major diplomatic incident in D.C. Dealing with the fallout, Brydon is tested to the limits of his foreign diplomacy skills as he grapples with a world of tangled relationships and conflicting interests. Somewhere an invisible puppeteer is playing him and, in a world of high stakes where manipulation of information means ultimate power, who can he trust?

The cast also includes Ben Daniels (MI-5, Cutting It) as British diplomat staffer Nicholas Brocklehurst, Eva Birthistle (Breakfast on Pluto) as human rights lawyer Jane Lavery, and Lennie James (Sahara, Midsummer Night's Dream) as Luke Gardner, a member of the British Army awaiting execution on Death Row in Florida.

Filming in Canada and D.C. until July, State Within is a co-production with BBC. I love love love Mr. Isaacs, and it'll be great to see Ms. Gless back kicking ass and taking names like Chris Cagney from Cagney & Lacey. She did her time in Queer As Folk purgatory. Welcome back, girlfriend! Heck, I'd take her as Secretary of Defense over Rumsfeld anyday. Stay tuned for airdates!

You guys need to check out the movie "Shopping" on VHS. It's a mediocre low-budget film especially considering all the talent in it -- Jason, Jude Law (the star), Sean Bean and Jonathan Pryce but Jason (in tight bicycle shorts -- HOT!) nearly steals the movie in the one scene he is in as a black markets dealer.

The sexy Mr. Isaacs is in a new series called Brotherhood which premiered last night on Showtime. Starring Annabeth Gish, Jason Clarke, Fionnula Flanagan (the mother in "Transamerica") and Ethan Embry, it's about 2 Irish-American brothers in Providence, RI. Jason Isaacs is the lethal, ruthless killer who metes out his own justice on behalf of the unfortunate and who is tied with the Irish Mob; his brother is a state representative who is almost as corrupt in his own way.

I saw it last night and it's quite interesting. Especially with regard to the parallels between the brothers, parallels which the politician brother refuses to see. But Jason Isaacs definitely stole the show for me. And not just because I think he's sex on a stick. ;D

As soon as I started seeing the ads everywhere, I thought "there are gonna be some very happy Greecies!"

TiVoed it but haven't watched it yet. Will do. Since Bill Paxton takes it off in almost every episode of Big Love, would it kill Jason to do the same? Come on, Showtime - we know how much you want to compete with HBO! Or do them better and go for full-frontal 24/7.

That was HIM? I thought the actor looked familiar in the commercials and meant to look him up today. I'm so used to seeing him with blond hair! Alas, Comcast in their infinite stupidity have decided customers cannot turn on one premium channel like Showtime unless they upgrade to digital, which I have no intention of doing.
