Chaka's not on any of the celeb Scieno lists on the internet. Maybe someone confused her with another 70s soul diva, Gladys Knight, who converted to LDS/Mormonism.

As far as I'm concerned Chaka can do no wrong. The very first record I ever purchased without my parents influence was Rufus' "Tell me something good". I think the 45 cost me 75 cents. I still have that 45 along with all of Rufus' albums. When I became a grown women I bit the bullet and purchased everything on CD.
I had her posters on my wall as a teenager. I wanted to be Chaka. I thought and still think she is one of the coolest women on the face of the earth.
My girl can sing, and she can scream on key.
And yes, I too remember the leather chap wearing, feathers in her hair Chaka. And yes whenever she is on TV I do yell out "eat a carrot baby". It's only because I love her and I want her to be the best she can be.
Then I think, well you've gained 20lbs since '79. And then my compassion kicks in.
So, I sit back and I smile and listen to my girl sing her arse off.
God, this women is so necessary and she is so apart of the fiber of my youth and the essence of my adulthood.
I'm glad that things worked out for her and her family.
Now question for the board. Why did I think she was living in Europe specifically London.

What is wrong with Gladys being a Mormon? Mormonism seems preferable to being a clam.

I am so relieved that she isn't a clam! Now I can fully enjoy her fabulousness.

Clam is a derogatory nickname for Scientologists. It is derived from the Scientologist's belief that humans evolved from small clam-like critters, and also that many of our problems are a direct result of traumas suffered in our clamhood, i.e. sore jaw, hungry birds, irritating grains of sand, and the like.

Just when I think they couldn't possibly be a bigger bunch of nutjobs and quacks I discover even more crackpot "beliefs" of the Church of Scientology.
