O/T rant: Walmart is evil. It disturbs me greatly to see all the people who shop there. Sorry, I couldn't hold that in. Follow Thingee's example, people!! 'kay...done...

On subject: I feel very bad for MK. I would not want to be on the paparazzi's hot list especially since she is really sick and needs help.

I just do not understand why people like her (with enough money to make Solomon blush ^tm Mr. Eddie Izzard) do not just go into hiding somewhere, move to anywhere-where-there-are-no-photogs. So disturbing, very, very famewhoreish.

I wholeheartedly agree with this. If you're so frightened by the paparazzi that you need to hide behind your dog, don't move to freaking New York City. Take your ass off to Scotland or something. Even Prince William managed to go there and be (mostly) unharassed.

I've always loved the Olsen Twins. It's probably because I grew up with them, and they remind my youth-issued self of my childhood. I always wanted to be Michelle Tanner's best friend (looking back I don't know why though, she was such a freaking brat).

Though it's funny to hear how good their lipgloss is (I'm gonna go check some out sometime soon), has anybody hear smelled their perfume? When I was in NYC I remember seeing some so I sprayed it on me and what a mistake that was. MKnA: stick to the cosmetics and step away from the fragrances.

Demi Moore lived in rural Iowa(?) to raise her family and the paps didn't bother her there. MK still has that option but she contiues to live a city with the 2nd highest population of paparazzi in the world.


Does anyone in the Mid-west know if Meijer's sells the MKA makeup? I noticed they were selling their perfume, but I was in a rush and didn't have time to look in the make-up aisles.

Exactly MoreCowbell. She knew how much the paps sucked and that they'd be in New York. If she wanted to get away from them she had tons of options. Is Champaign, Illinois (or any small college town) as glamorous as New York? No, but you can still have fun, get an education and not be bothered by photographers.

I wonder if Candace Cameron harasses them with Chick Tracts and all that. I was never a fan, but I have to feel sorry for them, especially Mary Kate. I've never had an ED, but I've got an anxiety disorder, and people are so fucking ignorant about mental health issues.

I think the MKA makeup might be a Wal-Mart exclusive in the US and Canada. I'm in Canada now, Thingee, and when I went looking for a replacement tube of gloss a few weeks back I found that all of the MKA stuff was in a little basket on clearance. It was like this in two stores.

As far as the Olsen's staying in NY, I wonder if it's not so much being a famewhore, but rather trying to exercise some control over their lives in a "they're not going to make me go" sort of way.

I think New York was a good choice considering what they want to do with their lives. MK is into photography/has said she wants to open a restaurant. Ashley is into fashion/wants to keep acting. NYC is a great place, maybe the best place if you want to do any of those things.
In addition most of their friends from Campbell Hall (their high school) are now in NY or attending schools somewhere on the east coast. Also when they would have been choosing schools they would have both had boyfriends attending schools on the east coast. In New York they may not have their parents but they do have a good support network around them .

I don't think MK is a famewhore. I think walking around NY in baggy clothes is more about hiding how frail she is rather than trying to attract attention. I had an ED for 8 (!) years. It had nothing to do with trying to get people to look at me. It had everything to do with trying to make myself feel better about bad stuff that had happened in my life (ie the control thing). No amount of therapy, support, bribes, or threats from family or friends stopped it. The only thing that made it go away (I haven't had any problems since 2003) was I finally reached the point where I didn't feel the need to do it anymore. I think that's what it's going to take for MK, if she can hang in there.
