I think the majority of celebrity women who claim to be bisexual do so just to drum up interest, appeal to men**, and/or appear "edgy". **I actually typed "appeal to me" instead of men. I started to leave it, because all the bi girls in Hollywood want me.

As a bisexual female who's kind of tired of the stereotypes, I feel compelled to respond to this. The question you had about bisexual women can be answered with simple statistics. 9 out of 10 men I meet are attracted to females, and therefore potential mates. Only 1 out of 10 women I meet is attracted to females (or something like that...I don't know what the actual numbers are). So, because of the huge difference in available dating pools in each gender, you'd expect a truly bisexual woman to end up with a man 9 times out of 10 - there are about 9 times the applicants. And that's not even factoring in the societal pressure to end up with someone of the opposite sex, which also plays a part...people often end up with the type of mate their family (consciously or subconsciously) desires them to have.
As for men...while the existence of female bisexuality is pretty well-established, the question of male bisexuality is more in doubt. It at least seems to be rarer. But I wouldn't be surprised if most bi men never come out as bi because they want to pass as straight...there's a lot more stigma against bisexual men than bisexual women. For what it's worth, I've also known plenty of "gay" men who will sleep with the occasional woman on the DL.

I hate to veer totally OT, but I was posing more of a rhetorical question. It makes no sense to me that more women than men would be bisexual. If bisexuality is a human orientation/preference/condition, why would it be more prevelant among females than males? By this I mean nature rather than nurture, because I DO agree, however, that it is perhaps more palatable for women to experiment with their sexuality than men, not to mention something that is considered to be titillating to straight men; bi men seem to be shunned by both the straight or gay communities. And now back to topic before the mods kick my arse. I don't know why, but, while I feel she is talented, she annoys me endlessly.

Clementine74 , I agree. MM's show is boring and her hosting is painful to watch. I actually cringe. I thought it would be better- I don't know why. Want to start placing bets as to when it's off the air (and I wish her well btw)? I'm going to say November sweeps does her in. Notice I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt, mostly because NBC probably doesn't have a mid-season replacement lined up. I mean- Tony Danza (ABC) was easier to watch and he thankfully got cancelled.

The bit I saw of her show was pretty awkward - she did everything right on paper, but still is sooooo jittery and nervous in practice that it just seems awkward. That said, I do think she should have a fair chance because the tired "typical" host needs to be shaken up a bit. Karen (Sean Hayes irked me half the time) really was the best part of the latter years of W&G. I think the show fumbled about 3-4 seasons in, when it became very apparent that Will/Grace are allowed to have one of the most dysfunctional, depressing, codependent relationships I've ever seen on TV just because they're "best friends." But since they're the leads and therefore must be "likeable", we never can *really* call them on their neurotic, self-absorbed bullshit. How were we supposed to see it as charming? If a straight guy controlled who his friends dated, it would be seen as more than a little creepy and misogynistic. It is hysterical seeing very, very early eps in syndication, though. Karen and Jack were extended cameos, at best, and MM didn't even use the "Karen Voice" yet! I kinda always feel bad for bisexuals because they get flack from both the straight and the gay communities - the former saying "Oh, you're just greedy because you want to do everyone!" and the latter always being convinced that they're *really* gay, just in denial. In terms of women in Hollywood I would buy as actually bi, MM is one of the few.

Yes. I have no idea why. I've seen a few episodes because people I liked were on them, and she's been improving, but i'm not sure if that's enough.
