I have long suspected that Cindy Crawford is not nearly as smart as we've been told. This only reinforces it.
I don't think it takes someone with too much intelligence to deduce that a picture of a 5 year old meant to mimic an adult woman hiding her breasts and showing off her back tattoo (another sign of sexual maturity) is inappropriate and wrong.
I'm not really bothered by the ones hugging her friend or eating the fruit but the string bikini one, a la Sports Illustrated, is also pretty creepy and overtly sexual.
I remember a TV special on kids and sex YEARS ago, when Cindy's workout video came out. It was on 20/20 or Dateline. There was one clip of this tubby 10 or 11 year old boy watching Cindy's video and saying things like, "I'd like to see you without that leotard," etc. She watched the clip and seemed totally surprised that a kid that age could find something sexual in her workout video. You would think some of this stuff might stick in her mind.

I know she's a model and all but there is something creepy about these photos of her child modeling swimsuits. The top pose is just C.R.E.E.P.Y! Gack! Correct if I'm wrong on this one, but I've always assumed two things: 1) Women wear bikinis for one of two reasons a) to show off their bodies/pick up men b) to get a good tan. 2) Kids don't wear bikinis because a) they DON'T need to show off their bodies or pick up men and b) one-pieces don't usually fall off. With the amount of running/rolling around that a little kid at the beach will do, a bikini will stay in place for no more than two seconds, three tops. Therefore, why is anyone manufacturing bikinis for little kids? What purpose do they serve? And what market are the manufacturers hoping to serve*? Why would anyone buy a swimsuit like that for a little girl? It's a skanky looking bikini! The only cute photo is her eating the fruit in the tankini. ITA. I think the reason it's cute is because she actually looks like a little kid and not like a five dollar midget prostitute in swimwear. *Besides Gary Glitter.

In what context are these pictures used? If she's modeling the swimsuits (for what? Catalog?), why in the hell is there a picture topless in underpants? The string bikini is just a little too much also. Do kids really wear those? The two pieces are cute.
Otherwise, we probably wouldn't think much of them if we hadn't seen that top picture. Having seen that, and the fact that it can't be doing anything else but objectifying her, they're all creepy.

The photos don't really bother me except for the top one. I ran around in just bikini bottoms until I was about five or six, and then my mom bought me a one piece.
Little girls are built exactly like little boys on top, so I don't really see the need to put tops on them when they're just running around on the beach. If little girls need tops, so do little boys.
If there's anything disturbing about those photos, it's not the clothing, it's the tone.

Bikinis on kids creep me out a bit. Particularly string bikinis.

Bikinis on kids creep me out a bit. Particularly string bikinis. I have an eight year old daughter. I've never seen a string bikini on another child. I've never noticed that they were even available to buy. You know, they're kind of impractical for an active kid. Then again I've never seen a lower back tattoo (At ONTD a poster referred to it as a "tramp stamp". Heh.) on a five year old either, so I guess I'm out of the loop. IMO, those pictures are worse than some of the Jon Benet pageant photos.

Cindy and I grew up in the same town. She attended high school with a cousin of mine.
I think those pictures of her daughter are, at best, meh.
The first one was unnecessary. I don't know. As bauersbiatch mentioned, little girls are built like little boys on the top. The two-piece swimsuits on little girls don't bug me that much. Although I distinctly remember my mom putting me in a one piece.
I don't think her daughter is that cute. Maybe she'll grow into her looks when she's older.

The first one is creepy I'll admit, and it's impractical to be wearing a string bikini but otherwise I don't think it's a big deal. My mom put me in bikinis occasionally when I was little because she thought they were cute, and also because I wanted to wear them. I saw older girls wearing them and I wanted one too.

That first picture just screams WRONG when you look at it. It instantly makes me feel uncomfortable. The pose is classic sex and the beads, tatoo...urgh, everything about it is just shockingly inappropriate. How on earth did anyone think it was ok? The others are dubious but that one in particular makes me mad. What a weird, weird famliy.

I don't mind two piece suits on kids but string bikinis? I have a hard time keeping MY string bikini on correctly and I am 29! This is for people who just have money to piss away.
