My best friend's husband didn't start having epileptic seizures until he was in his mid-30s. They're usually triggered by lack of sleep brought on by weird schedules, stress, etc. Once you get on medication and a regular sleep schedule, you're fine.

Probably a little TMI but my dad died when he was 41 (I was eleven) of a heart attack. Now his heart was weakened by pneumonia he was hospitalized for that year. But that's not what killed him. He excessively drank, smoked cigarettes and did harder drugs since his teen years. So when I hear of someone with a drug problem (and Kelly's in recovery for the rest of her days) having a random  fainting spell or seizure I always feel the problem didn't appear out of nowhere.

mementori, I agree. (Sorry to hear about your dad.) I hope KO hasn't done lasting damage, she's had some missteps but I think overall she's a good person.

Why do we automatically think she's doing drugs, she's bulimic, etc., etc.? I haven't seen anything to indicate that she's fallen into the abyss. She has been seen drinking in clubs after her brother's MS diagnosis, but I didn't get the feeling that she was on drugs, purging, or going on binges. But I'm one of the few people apparently who still likes her, and I think she's holding herself together pretty well considering that family.

I like Kelly, too, but I know that addictions tend to recur. For how many decades has her father been going on and off the wagon? Kelly definitely has it more together than her father, but she and Jack both got the addiction gene from him.

Also, she's young, she lives in Hollywood, she still likes to go clubbing, it's the ideal environment for relapse. I also wonder whether she has chemical assistance in keeping her weight down, which was such a struggle for her before.

I think like mementomori, when somebody has a history of substance abuse and has a seizure, it's probably not a coincidence.

Damn, I hope it's not epilepsy. The family really has enough on their plate at the moment. My friend was diagnosed last year with it at age 38, she's an MD & basically has to find a new career (she's an anesthesiologist). She can still do her job, but to manage the illness she needs to stick to a routine sleep schedule. So she can't ever be on call--a critical part of her position. All that schooling! She said it'd be a waste to learn a new discipline at this stage, and she's considering moving out of state, back home to live w/ family & maybe get a law degree instead. She wasn't ever passionate about anesthesia but it was still a rough rug to have pulled from under her.

I never hear KO talk about her weight loss so I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't some kind of non-exercise intervention happening--but I don't know how it ties in here. Also, if alcohol wasn't her drug of choice, she may feel comfortable drinking. It's a slippery slope--God only knows how often people just try to hand celebs drugs, ala John Belushi--but hopefully she's got a good support system & doesn't overdo it. I hope she's better soon, I love Fashion Police, and watching her attempts to be PC while Joan Rivers slaughters people left & right.
