Not true.
The current republican congress passed a bill funding stem cell research. Bush vetoed it. It was the first and only bill he's ever vetoed in his entire presidency.

I agree, none of the numbers I've seen are anywhere close to being 50/50. In fact, I read just today that Georgia polls had people coming in at the mid-60%-range in favour of stem cell research and that those numbers reflected the outcome of similar national polls. I've read other articles which puts the national support for stem cell research in low 70%-range. I don't know who wrote the originally quoted comment above, but they should check out the new study/poll which I posted on the first page of this thread. It assessed people's reaction to the stem-cell issue before and after the MJF/Limbaugh situation. In it, the smallest group of people surveyed -- Republicans ---- were at 66% in SUPPORT of stem-cell research before the MJF ads/Limbaugh incident. The number went up to 68% in just the one day between Limbaugh's comments and the taking of the poll. And again, it was 66% of Republicans! The numbers for all other groups were massively higher, before and after the Limbaugh flap.

Wow, has it been that long? Damn, time flies.
It seems like only yesterday Alex was driving to the train station to tell Ellen, "I love you. I love you, I love you, I love you." Or dancing with her to "At This Moment".
Rush is a tiny dick. A tiny, shrivelled up dick.
(ETA: the first part was in response to the question over how long Tracey and Michael have been married).

MJF is an American citizen? Seriously?
Now, I no longer care about this story.

MJF is an American citizen? Seriously? Now, I no longer care about this story. You only care about Canadian actors? As for MJF, IMDb states he was born in Edmonton, Alberta and moved to Vancouver when he was 10. He first came to the US at 18. So, yes, he's originally Canadian

He became a US citizen in 2000, I think.

He is now and will always be Canadian first. It amazes me how and why some (very few as far as I can tell) Americans hate Canadians and look down their noses at us, yet MJF is there being a typical Canadian and they love him.
If we're Canadian but living in the USA, then we're okay?
Anyway, back to Rush....when he said he's NEVER seen MJF like that in ANY interview, that proves either Rush is a phenomenally incompetent journalist OR he never watches tv. Because MJF has appeared that way countless times on American tv. So either Rush is lying or stupid, but I pick that he's both.

I don't know if you were talking about anyone here but, personally, I think it's silly to use nationality as a litmus test for liking *or* disliking someone. Same with the question of the country in which a person lives. The one exception is Gwyneth Paltrow, and that's solely because she's made nationality and location something to use to cast derison onto others. Topic: New national poll results showing the impact of MJF's ad. Excerpts:

Maybe I'm not surrounded by stereotypical Americans (living on a coast as I do), but I've never met anyone who hates Canadians. Mostly, we just envy the free health care and education. (Okay, maybe we giggle about Quebec every once in a while, but we still plan vacations to Montreal. And, seriously, giggling isn't that insulting, because we'd giggle about Texas if we weren't so busy crying.)

Well, here's one Canadian who thought it was very cool that he came right out and said "as an American..." I'm really fed up with Canadians-by-birth-only riding the hype train to stay in the Canadian public eye, and to have Canadian media constantly referring to them as "Canadian" when they haven't set foot in this country in a dozen years other than to accept a "Canadian Achievement Award".
