I couldn't find a thread on him, so I'm starting one. I just watched Back to the Future and was reminded of how awesome he is. I love him. I watched Willard for him. I even love his CD, which is probably one of the strangest things ever released. I also found this article, in which he claims he will never get married because it will interfere with his career. He also says he's never been close to getting married and only dates girls who aren't interested in commitment, but wasn't he engaged to that Courtney Peldon girl who's always on Go Fug Yourself?

What?! He went out with Peldon? Isn't she half his age?

If you really want to freak yourself out, watch Back to the Future and Charlie's Angels back to back. Those movies are 15 years apart, but the guy didn't age; it's like he's Dorian Gray. He's definitely the frontrunner for Hottest Weird Guy ever, though; I can't tell if he thinks he has to "be strange" in order to be creative, or if he's a bit Aspberger-ish.
His character in Charlie's Angels was amazing, and to me, quite a surprise. Up until then, with the exception of BttF, he'd been doing indie films and working on his own movies; and then he shows up in a big commercial film doing fight scenes that look really difficult.
Why yes, I did go through a Crispin Glover obsession phase, why do you ask?

Someday when they make "Bush: The George Dubya Story", I think he should star. And I love his cameo as Andy Warhol in The Doors.

I loved Marty McFly, but I had the hots for his Dad. What can I say. Awkward sci-fi boys are hot, yo.

I swear that all that follows is true and actually happened:
I was working on a movie with Ken Russell (he ended up not directing it, long story). We were casting. Ken doesn't do traditional auditions. He sets up meetings with actors he thinks are interesting and chats with them. If they can hold his interest in a conversation, he'll have them read for him. So our "auditions" consisted of actors showing up at the house Ken was renting up in the Hollywood Hills, which belonged to Gore Vidal and had been Bela Lugosi's home at one time, to chat with Ken. The movie was set at a college so we were seeing lots of young actors (this was the late 80s) and one of them was Michele Meyrink (fast talking Jordan from Real Genius, among other roles). She was dating Crispin at the time. So Crispin gets the address from Michele and shows up, entirely unannounced, and begs to meet Ken because he's a big fan. We explain to Ken that a fine young actor, not right for any of the roles in our film, really wants to meet him, and Ken's a good sport and says sure. Crispin does the whole stammering and whiny voice thing, practically bows at Ken's feet, and gives Ken a book he has written called "How to Catch Rats" (this was an actual hard bound book). Ken thanks him, we politely edge Crispin out the door, and Ken hands the book off to his assistant, Sabina, who is one of those "English Rose" types. So Sabina thumbs through the book while we converse and then suddenly Sabina lets out a giant shriek, hurls the book on the floor, and announces "There is a picture in that book of a man f**king a sheep!" And sure enough, there was.
And that is my Crispin Glover story. I have gotten incredible mileage out of it, especially after his karate kicking appearance on the Letterman show which seemed to corroborate the crazy completely.

Thank you Wol! I always enjoy your insider stories. Did you get a chance to look at the book? I'm curious as to why a book about catching rats would have a man f*cking a sheep in it.
Isn't Ken Russell married to Theresa Russell? If so, did you get to meet her? Love her.
Topic? Crispen=Crazy

I don't have the book, but he reads excerpts of it on his CD, and it's all very strange. Coffecakes, I can't find any official word that he and Peldon were engaged, but they girls at GFY seemed to think they were, and they were definitely together at some point.

ot: I don't think Theresa Russell has eve been with Ken Russell. Theresa was with Nicolas Roeg, with whom Donald worked in Don't Look Now and for whom Donald Sutherland named one of his sons (Roeg). /ot
