I don't have the book, but he reads excerpts of it on his CD, and it's all very strange. Coffecakes, I can't find any official word that he and Peldon were engaged, but they girls at GFY seemed to think they were, and they were definitely together at some point. He's so shiny...and what the sweet frick happened to his eyebrows?

I really think Crispin is a hot geek guy, but KA-RAAAAZY!!! As for Courtney - if you look up Crispin's info on IMDB, it doesn't have her listed as his girlfriend or spouse. But if you look up her info, it has Crispin listed as "spouse." My favorite Crispin moment has to be his apprearance on Letterman after BttF where he showed up in a long wig, striped highwater flares and platform shoes, and then proceeded to have a complete meltdown on camera. He threw a karate high-kick at Dave's head and missed him by an inch! Suddenly, they cut to commercial - BAM! Just like that - and after that break, Crispin was "mysteriously" gone! And thanks to our friends at You Tube, here it is for your viewing pleasure: "I'm strong! I can kick!"Wol, that story is great!

Kudos to zivvie for the excellent Theresa Russell/Nic Roeg/Donald Sutherland wrap up.
Thank you, India, for the YouTube link. That clip is comedy gold, and a classic. Letterman was not amused and Crispin was removed by security.
Btw, Crispin's father is a character actor named Bruce Glover, who appears in Chinatown, and I believe he gets the final line of the movie: "Forget it, Jake, it's Chinatown."
Crispin's "How to Catch Rats" book was available for sale back in the day. It's probably collectible in some circles. It was total nonsense and made little sense, so the man/sheep picture was as out of place as plenty of other stuff in the book. I remember having a huge laugh when Crispin appeared in Willard with all those rats.
For all the crazy, Crispin will always get a pass from me for "River's Edge." That's an amazing performance right there, imo.

My story doesn't begin to compare, but I did see CG in a West Coast production of The Sound of Music starring Florence Henderson as Maria, decades ago. He was the younger son, IIRC. I remember him precisely b/c of his unusual name. I still remember his picture in my program, he was smiling maniacally.

Oh, I'd forgotten about his album. I remember actually kind of liking one of the songs that I'd hear from time to time on college radio. I wonder which one it was. Must look into that.
He's a freak, but he's an entertaining freak.

That's it! Thank you! I knew I'd heard a song of his, but couldn't remember what it was.

Yes, Crispin's "These Boots are Made for Walking" is the shit. Really really bizarre, but awesome.

I actually own a copy of his book "Rat Catching," along with his other concoctions: "Oak Mot" and "What It Is, And How It Is Done," and they're awesome. Basically what he's done is to take old, like, Victorian-era books and revamp them by crossing out large chunks of printed text and adding his own interpolations, as well as inserting collage elements and crazed doodlings all over the pictures. They're sources of endless fascination (though I'm not as wild about "What It Is" because some of the pictures are super-gross -- like, pictures from medical textbooks and police blotters of people with their faces violently disarrayed.)
You used to be able to order them directly from his publishing/production company "Volcanic Eruptions," which was apparently based in his mother's house. If you called to place an order, you'd sometimes get his mom on the phone. The books themselves were very neatly packaged and autographed -- which all would have been adorable if the books weren't so creepy and insane. Nonetheless, they occupy a special place on my bookshelf and in my heart.
