Let's start it off with good news!

She got engaged! Her ring is great but a tad goth in my opinion.

I wonder if she will have a gothic wedding. I hope so!

Yeah I agree with you guys on her looks but I love her voice! So haunting and beautiful. And I love the acoustic version to My Immortal. So gorgeous.

I love Amy Lee. It's great she's getting married!

I didn't like Evanescence before (mainly because of the rap/rock in "Bring Me To Life" *shudder*). However, without Ben Moody and David Hodges, the band has gotten better.

I think it funny that Hodges left Evanescence and Kelly Clarkson, then both became incredibly successful.

I'm not a fan. The Evanescence thread at FT was one of my favorites because of all the snark on how Amy Lee made it clear how superior she felt she was to all adolescent female pop stars who were all just leading little girls down a path to make them all into identical blonde bimbos in pink. I remember one of my favorite lines from FT was something like "You don't have to look like you just woke up from a coma to prove that you have a soul."

She does have a beautiful voice but it really grates on me for some reason. There's a quality in her voice that's really pure and sweet but I just want her to get really gritty and *sing* in some of those harder songs. When the band gets down and dirty I want the singer to do that as well, and she doesn't cut it for me. Just my opinion.

Ah, thank you! I'm not a fan of her voice, but I'm weird about the voices of female rock singers in general. My real issue with her is that she embodies that "humorless goth" stereotype, at least from what I've seen, like one of the characters on the old SNL skit "Goth Talk". High school was quite a few years ago, we can move on from hating the "Britneys", some of them might be decent people too.

Wedding Bells By John Lee

WEDDING BELLS

Evanescence lead singer Amy Lee called her family in Little Rock last week with some exciting news. She’s engaged. Dad John tells Paper Trails that Amy, 25, has known her 28-year-old fiance, Josh, since her high school days in Little Rock. He attended Arkansas Baptist, has a master’s degree and is employed by a Christian organization in New York working with chemically dependent patients.
John reports that Josh, who’s also a writer, lives in New York (as does Amy), and the pair have been dating for 1 about 1/2 years.
And Josh is apparently an old-fashioned kind of guy. He asked John for Amy’s hand a couple of weeks ago while the two men were walking together in Manhattan. At that time, Josh confided to John that he was awaiting an antique ring, expected it to arrive while the band was in Japan, and that he’d pop the question there. Instead, Josh proposed earlier, a few nights ago in Canada.
“I guess the ring must have arrived early and it was burning a hole in Josh's pocket,” says John. “And, yes, he got down on his knee.” The pair aren’t planning a rush to the altar but will instead enjoy their engagement for awhile, predicts John.
