I had a crush on him a loooonggg time ago.I thought he was so funny...I love funny guys. Then I kinda forgot about him. It's sad that i'm reminded of him because of his death. I've been on youtube all afternoon watching his stand up clips. I love his PMS and red wine stuff. I sent my son the links of him because he is a great comedien. He deserves to be known. I've been in a bad mood ever since i've heard this. Damn.

This is surprising. He was one of my favorites. Very sad.

I was wondering why this thread was started. I remember seeing a special of his on TV, while I was in High School (many years ago). I thought he was funny and would look out for some of his stand-up acts on the Toob after that.
I really didn't expect this of him. I'm sorry to hear it and hope he is at peace.

I'm so sad to hear this! I saw him live at Caroline's years ago, and I'm not even exaggerating, I couldn't breathe I was laughing so hard. He'd just hit you with great joke after great joke, and you'd still be hyperventilating from Joke #1 when Jokes #2 & #3 would hit you like a freight train. What a total waste of a talented guy.

Damn, it's true, then. RIP, Richard.

This is one of the few times I have clicked on a thread here and then truly and very audibly gasped. Oh this is terrible. I've been a fan for a couple decades now, since I was in high school also. Even my 16 year old got hooked on him after the "big steaming pile of me". from that show we still pop off with, 'here's a dollar'-"thank you" in the sing song voice, or discuss the 'shitty shiney piece of cheese and fling it through a window' and the alltime favorite "go to bed bath and beyond.....turban so high you tickle Allah's nutsack"
He was a consistently funny comedian and will be missed, leaving us with the Jay Leno's and Dane Cook's. Depression is such a mindf*ck. I hope he is now resting in peace, and lighting up with Bill Hicks.

Damn it. I was hoping it wasn't true. I really liked him - he was a funny SoB. RIP, Richard. How sad.

Man, I wish this wasn't true, but I'm afraid it is.
I remember first seeing him when Crazy From The Heat aired on HBO. I taped it and watched it over and over again, addicting quite a few of my friends in the process. Sure, the Platypus Man series never quite took off, but he gave us the line "If God didn't have a sense of humor, he never would have created the platypus."
RIP Richard Jeni.

I just saw a commercial that Chris Rock is due on Letterman tomorrow (to promote his new movie, I'm sure). Assuming he still goes on, it could be a pretty tough appearance for him, considering that he and Richard were apparently good friends. If he still goes on, I would bet he talks about Richard and his talent and legacy.

They are reporting that his death is "under investigation " because they are questioning the girlfriend that made the call when he shot himself . I guess they want to rule her out as the shooter? They put the "suicide" thing on hold for now . Who knows ?
