I remember that initially he said something about having family problems, and something about taking care of his mother. But then some tabloid news show interviewed his mom and she had no idea what they were talking about, and in fact hadn't found out that Mario had quit until she found out via the news reports.
When his album came out, he said that he opted out of signing the top 12 contract because it was overly restrictive and he couldn't sing the "edgy" music he wanted to do with the American Idol banner. I never did buy that.

Ah...one of life's great mysteries is seemingly solved, huh?
Every year, it's some sort of shocking scandal (or two or three or four) with this show. As bland as the contestants are this year, they may have had to trot out this old news.

I'm not absolutely doubting the truth of these allegations, but isn't this a long time to wait to file a lawsuit? I'm not sure what the statute of limitations is in California, but the Plaintiff may have waited until time was running out before filing. That's not uncommon at all, especially when the case is something embarassing or high profile.

His departure seemed very hinky, but needless to say I didn't expect this. This is so skeevy no matter what the outcome. To fabricate a lawsuit like this? Creepy. To be a reality show contestant and be this reckless? Also creepy.
