solly79, that was my first thought, too. I don't know enough about the boys and haven't heard any of their songs besides Monsoon ( which I quite frankly like ), but I'll bet by the time they're 25 they will be just a bunch of washed up has-beens. I can see the coming drama of drug abuse, nervous break-downs, band internal rivalry and estrangement from the parents unfold before my eyes. At that age no matter how seriously you take your carrier ( or your - uhm- art and yourself ) the success and the industry will damage you in some way.

This is the first I've heard of them because I'm older than dirt, but when I clicked on the link my immediate thought was Boy George & Culture Club in the 80s. He wasn't as pretty, but the makeup skills were there.

I've looked this kid over and it's he looks like a poser. A wannabe.
German. Well, I hope his English is good. Because America ain't putting up with his act if he has to have an interpreter present during interviews or he utters "I don't understand - my English is not that good"
He's more like a novelty. Here today - gone today.

I just get a kick out of the fact that his name is Bill. (And the fact that he's the same age as me. I always think it's really weird when famous people are my age, for some reason.) I can't say that "Bill" is the first name that springs to mind when I think of super-androgynous, pretty men.

Well, they're not the first band in the world to be catapulted to fame on the back of a singer whose primary value is as eye candy... are they?
He's really pretty. That's about all I have to say about that.

Well, they're not the first band in the world to be catapulted to fame on the back of a singer whose primary value is as eye candy... are they? He's really pretty. That's about all I have to say about that. True. What brings in people in the beginning is of course the apperance of Bill Kaulitz, he has a very striking look, and nobody can really deny that. It may be that people think he's beautiful or confused whether it is a boy or a girl (I thought he was a girl first time I saw a pic of him), or fascinated that a pair of identical twins come off as so different even though they technically has the same facial structure. But once people check them out more, they usually discover there are more than meets the eye. There seems to be some substance there actually. God knows I am not into teenage bands, and TH has the most annoying fans in the world. But they (the band, not the fans) have some really good songs in my opinion. In difference to most other bands with young members, TH wasn't casted, they aren't from somebody like Lou Perlman. They are not 4 guys singing and dancing in weird unison on stage like most boy bands do nowadays, (US5 someone?). They play their own instruments, and have been playing together since they were 10 and most importantly write their own music and lyrics. /stops ranting

I can't say that "Bill" is the first name that springs to mind when I think of super-androgynous, pretty men. Bill and Tom sound more like American middle-aged plumbers than teenage androgynous rockstars. Are those common names in Germany? They just sound so Anglo to me. I don't know how well they'll do in the U.K or the U.S. but teenage girls love boys who look like girls. Of course once they hit twenty, it'll be over. They're like Hanson 2.0 with more makeup.

The thing about Bill Kaulitz that is most intriguing, IMO, is that he is genuinely androgynous. I don't think he looks like a girl at all; I think he looks like Bill Kaulitz, which is to say a beautiful young person of totally indeterminate gender. It probably says all kinds of deep shit about our culture that such a person is so widely accepted and squee'd-over these days -- I just wish I could stand the music.

lace front wig is all I have to say.
Geez, he's playing it up - being coquettish. And everything is dramatic. From hand gestures, to hair flips, to how he talks. Looks like he has great gay man queen syndrome. "Gotta Dance!" He's just a year or two away from sprouting hair. Then what will he do. He will no longer be the young pretty thing and he will disappear nd we will stop caring about this boy.
He will despair and then he will die (usually by his own hand).
Michael Jackson wrote the handbook on asexual performers and look where he's at. In never never land. Looking for boys (allegedly), and broke (alledgedly).
Oh, and this guy and his brother each have a bad set of choppers. Piranha like. Yikes! (Yeah I know - twins)
I'm going to do myself a favor and stop wasting my time on these celebrities (at least this week I'll go away - until Paris is off to Jail - then I'll come back like a good snark should)
