I thought she would have a career renaissance when High Art came out a few years back. Guess it didn't pan out.

She gave one of the best acceptance speeches at the 1999 Independent Spirit Awards when she won for High Art. She was loaded and didn't care if anyone noticed.

Boy, actresses over 40 are in a Catch 22 situation. You can't get plastic surgery or get old. They just have to make sure they get Susan Sarandon's plastic surgeon.

Nedsdag, I don't think she would look bad at all if she hadn't spent a good portion of her career snorting, shooting, and drinking. That stuff is hard on a face. Older actresses really are trapped in a Catch-22, but Ally hasn't done anything to help herself, either.

I heard a rumor that when she was in Hedwig in the Angry Inch, she was so f'ed up on drugs (apparently she would do coke in the bathroom pre-performance) that John Cameron Mitchell had to ball her out and told her that she was ruining his show. Now, he took a HUGE leap of faith with her, and if this is indeed true, than that's really shitty and I hate her (it doesn't help that I LOOOOVE John Cameron Mitchell and the thought of anyone ruining anything for him makes me really sad.) In any case, it may not be true at all, or he might be very forgiving, because I've seen them together at events within the past few years.

Ooh, I'd kinda pay money to see the fucked-up-Alley-Sheedy-Hedwig on stage.
