Did I understand right, or when discussing the Andre Rison incident, did she basically scoff at rehab and the idea that she was an alcoholic? I thought that was strange since earlier in the doc she'd described her teenage drinking, and it was so clearly alcoholism. She drank to cope with her family situation, and it was such a problem she had to create an alternate identity to take the blame for all the bad things she did while drunk.

I don't think that she ever admitted that she was an alcoholic--or, at least, she didn't use that word to describe herself.

The people around her (family, the group she was managing, etc) seemed pretty enabling, in the little glimpse that I saw. She probably supported her entire entourage financially, and they didn't want to rock the boat. I'm guessing though, I don't know the whole situation.

I wonder if she was ever on medication. I think she needed it.

They'd had a big brawl the night before during which he bruised her lip. The final straw was when she opened the closet and saw that he'd purchased a big bunch of new sneakers and hadn't gotten any for her, so she threw the sneakers in the bathtub and lit them on fire. She thought it was a porcelain tub that would contain the fire, but it was a man-made deal that just lit up. She insisted that she never intended to burn the whole house, just the sneakers.

I searched through the VH1 schedule and couldn't find this show on for the next week. Various FOL shows on 100s of times, but this one they can't show once. Erghh!

Wasn't that the second time she had done that? The first time, she threw his sneakers in the tub and burned them. The tub was porcelain, so the fire was contained. But then Rison had it replaced with a man-made one, so when she went to burn sneakers the second time, she thought the fire would be contained as well.

I may be wrong, but I thought that was what was stated on the original BTM on VH1.

I also remember reading her challenge to the other two members of TLC in EW a few years before she died. She wanted each girl to make their own CD and release them in a 3CD set so the public could realize who the real talent of the group was (her, as she was inferring). She sounded like a complete nutjob.

Not even gonna peek, but I find the fact that she died wearing pink monkey pajamas so sad... and yet so HER!
I guess it's a blessing she had phased out her "condom eye-patch" fashion statement before her untimely passing.

Yeah, that's what she said on BTM. It was at that point that I realized she was psyhco. And Andre Risen was extremely stupid. If my SO set fire to my property in the middle of a tantrum they'd never be allowed in my home again.

No, she wasn't wearing the pajamas when she died. Someone apparently took the time to dress her in them (though sadly not to clean the blood from her head) before snapping the photo.

I really wish I hadn't clicked on that link. I knew better, but did it anyway.

I remember the sneakers in the bathtub and cd release challenge and she did come across like a spoiled brat, but, I always thought that under the badass act there was something really vulnerable and sweet. Maybe it was because she was so tiny and looked like a little girl. Anyhoo, in terms of talent, TLC was miles ahead of crap like Destiny's Child or The Pussycat Dolls and I still miss them.

I read she was on a 40 day fast when she died. Could anyone who saw the show verify this, please?

I know she was nutty at times but I really loved her.
