Isn't he the one who had that great "My life is an open book, but that doesn't mean I'm going to read it to you" quote? I thought this was one of those "open secrets" in Hollywood. I thought the same thing. I always felt that everyone knew he was gay, but they respected his wishes not to make it a source of conversation. I thought the same thing about NPH. I always loved DHP on Frasier. His comic timing is so perfect.

I think I am one of the few people in America who hated Spamalot even though I loved the movie Holy Grail.
This news is not surprising but I must admit that he was never cute enough for me to speculate about. It's like "Oh, he's gay. Well, yeah. That makes sense. Not surprising. Moving on."

John Mahoney is gay too. The rumors will not be confirmed unless/until he decides to -- just like Hyde Pierce. The legit media (and many gossip columnists too) generally will not out people. That's how even really famous people like Jodie Foster and pre-announcement Rosie O'Donnell get away with keeping it pseudo-secret.

Mr. Pierce may be gay but he was a good enough actor to play it believeably straight for Daphne on Fraiser all those years. Mr. Mahoney is also an actor who could play straight, I loved him in Moonstruck. And I always believe that Rock Hudson is straight for Doris Day in their cotton candy movies.
However, Rupert Everett, has never convinced me that he ever had any straight yearnings for any of his co-stars. ::Snerk, Madonna::

In other news: the ocean is salty, the sun rises in the east, and the Earth revolves around the Sun.

Their pairing never felt right to me. I just knew there was no way those two had an ounce of attraction for each other. I thought he was the best character on Frasier, until he got together with Daphne. It went downhill from there.

I thought he did a great job of pining after Daphne, but the show did lose some of its spark when they finally got together.
One of my all-time Fraiser moments was this opening scene that DHP did by himself of Niles ironing his pants, and he keeps knocking stuff over and other assorted pratfall-type stuff and somewhere along the way he cuts his finger and keeps fainting at the sight of the blood. It was just a great example of physical comedy.

I always thought he was out too.
The actor who plays Jack on Will & Grace is gay too, right?

The actor who plays Jack on Will & Grace is gay too, right? Oh he has to be. I think that's another situation like Pierce's, he won't talk about it or confirm it but people know.

In other news: the ocean is salty, the sun rises in the east, and the Earth revolves around the Sun. I know! I mean, I love this guy, he's one of the most talented comedians I've ever witnessed in my life. But I don't think he was fooling anyone! Good for him though - glad he came out on his own terms.
