The actor is a Scientologist too. A Scientologist who looks like a young Dana Carvey! The death of her character in Deadwood was just . . . gah. I didn't even watch that show, but came upon one of the episodes and was like, "Hey, is that Kristen Bell?" Yes, yes, it was. They made Veronica Mars's head sound like eggs being cracked!

I think she's overrated (at least as far as TwoP standards). I watched some season 1/2 episodes, and her "sad" face cracks me up. But then, I freely admit that when fans act like their idol can do NO wrong, that I get a little ticked.
It would be funny though, if the Heroes fans totally hate her character arc- I remember them all going "LOST sucks" for the simple reason that the show was running against VM. I gave up on LOSt this year, but that still ticks me off.

I love that interview you posted. That seemed a tad high. It was hilarious how Chris Lowell's cards said things like "she hates children" with a sign pointing to Kristen Bell.
I kind of like that they made her character have lots of faults and that people (mainly my sweetie Wallace) called her on her bullshit from time to time. Even with her faults, I still found her more likeable than, say, Rory Gilmore or Joey Potter- spoiled brats that everyone fawned over. Yuck. And, I'm not a rabid fan, but I will really miss the characters on the show, especially Mac, Wallace, and Keith.

After all the raves, I tried watching S1 on DVD and thought the show was crap. KB just comes across as so smug and smirky and unlikeable. The Logan guy was just lispy and annoying. And I thought the father/daughter stuff was one of the most unrealistic portrayals I've ever seen on tv. I also thought the cases of the week were dull as hell.
I do watch Heroes, so I'm not thrilled she'll be gracing my screen once again.

S1 was brilliant, S2 had its moments, and S3 was one giant WTF? That said, it's still one of my favorite shows ever. I always resisted watching it ("but it's a WB show!"), and then my friends made me sit down and watch the pilot, and when Veronica opens her locker to the police and there's the pic of the principal taped inside, and she goes, "Wow... this is embarrassing," I died laughing. You know how you can pinpoint the exact moment in a series when you're like, "fuck, they've got me, now I actually have to watch this show"? That was it for me. And the scene at the end of the first season, with Lilly and Veronica floating in the pool in V's dream, is one of the saddest scenes on television.
I also remember hating Logan at first and then I saw the hotel scene where he breaks down and I literally had to pause the DVD to recover, it was so good. And then I loved Logan forever. And while I hated where they took Veronica by the end of the series, Logan remains a truly interesting, awesome TV character.
Something about Kristen's line delivery totally kills me (in the good way). She seems to have a great sense of humor. My friends and I will occasionally shout, "A PONY?!" at each other when something's being kept a secret, in exactly KB's tone, and it never fails to crack us up. I also think she's an awesome crier.
Generally, she's one of those actresses that I originally had such low expectations about, that when I saw her act, she shocked me with how good she actually is. I had the exact same experience with Tricia Helfer on BSG--"whoa, this person's surprisingly excellent, against all odds!" Yes, I tend to judge blondes harshly. It's bad, I should stop.

I loved the show, though I agree with the criticisms about season 3; I think Kristen Bell is someone to watch and hope she gets the right opportunities. If you haven't seen the musical version of Reefer Madness, watch the DVD; you may not like what she did with Veronica, but I was convinced of her talent once I saw her performance in this. My friend worked with her on Deadwood and really liked her, so I've decided to go with his opinion and stay a KB fan for as long as possible. My other friend tried to hook up with her when she was a freshman at NYU and she was NOT interested...that always cracks me up (and makes me like her more; I love my friend but he's kind of a player).

It would be funny though, if the Heroes fans totally hate her character arc- I remember them all going "LOST sucks" for the simple reason that the show was running against VM. I gave up on LOSt this year, but that still ticks me off. There's already been some mini-meltdowns on the TWOP boards. The crazy Peter/Nathan/Sylar/etc. fans are flipping out because Kristin Bell might steal their favorite character's screentime, and the crazy Bell fans are flipping out because their goddess has been cast and the jellus haterz just don't appreciate her. (Please note that I am referring only to the crazy fans, there are plenty of sane ones.) I predict total meltdown around the first hiatus. It's going to be hilarious.

I have almost started this thread many times, but I've always chickened out, primarily because I don't feel that I'm that involved in the community here and thought it would probably end up on the last page shortly after I started it. So I'm glad someone else started the thread, and I'm so glad to see that there are actual responses!
Anyway, I adore Kristen. She is totally my girlcrush. S1 of Veronica Mars is probably my favorite season of any show ever. I even really like S2 (although some of the plotlines were WAY too over the top, even for VM, and I sometimes felt as though I were watching Days of Our Lives or something). S3 was...not so great. There are a few standout moments, but on the whole, it was not enjoyable. Anyway, I think Kristen is a terrific actress, and she seems like a sweet, smart, self-aware person in real life. I really hope I'm not wrong about that, because for some reason I just love her.
By the way, I was a Logan and Veronica shipper, and I don't care if people think that's wrong! I should qualify that by saying that I don't think I was ever as insane as some people were/are about those two...I know a lot of people have problems with Logan, and I get it, but if he were a real person, I would totally hit that.

Count me down for the Kristen Bell love. She is totally adorable and I absolutely love watching her interviews she totally quirky and cute. This is one of my all time favourite interviews. Heh. I love her delivery of "yeah I colour". Oh and I can't wait for her to be on Heroes. I think she will mesh so well with that show. I'm also a big VM fan. Well, of the first season at least and I completely agree that it was one of the best seasons of television ever - god, I loved that first year. It was such an exciting show and I remember the build up to the finale, I can't remember the last time a show was that exciting. But season two was a big dissapointment and season three was an even bigger dissapointment. And gawd, whoever upthread mentioned the "Logan turning into Spike" comment, may I just saw a big amen. Turning the bad/evil boy/vampire into the lovelorn, mopey, moron was suicidal for both shows.

I always thought she had the greatest outfits on VM. She always looked great.
Yeah the 1st season was far and away the best - I loved the love/hate relationship she had with all the guys - Logan, Dick, the Beav, Duncan.
