Yeah, the fact that Linney, Allen and Bening are without Oscars is crazy. Especially considering who *has* won when they didn't. I'm looking at you, Swank et al. But Julianne is definately in that group of under-appreciated over-40s actresses. If McConaughey can win after starring in so many utterly shitty movies, then so can she ;-) Annette Bening was amazing in Valmont. And in American Beauty, come to think of it. Also, I will always love Julianne for Evolution. I know it wasn't 'film' but it was fun and funny, and I like it when actors who usually do serious work go for something ridiculous.

She just doesn't have the charisma or talent to rise above bad scripts IMO.

This is really interesting because for some weird reason, I never considered Julianne Moore might be disliked.

I love Frances McDormand. She is pitch perfect in everything I've seen her in even that horrible Promised Land movie. As for Julianne, I don't dislike her. I just find her to be mediocre in most movies I've seen her in and am baffled by those who consider her overdue for an Oscar.

I guess this is one of those "de gustibus" moments because I've never truly disliked her in anything, and I do think she's often great -- I thought she carried Far From Heaven and was good in the PT Anderson movies. I did think her character in A Single Man was annoying as hell, but I thought that was more or less how the character was supposed to be.

I posted years ago (here? FT?) that no one ever has a bad word to say about Julianne Moore, but I am very meh on her. She does nothing for me, and I don't feel that she's been robbed of any awards, or that her mantelpiece is empty without them. She can have a clock for a solid, dull career up there.

I like the top and the bottom, but not really together.

I love the dress, just wish her hair was up and darker lipstick.
