Lamar is flapping his guns and showing off the baby in the DM. In his version, Sherri asked for a divorce then decided she didn't want the baby. He leaves out the part where he asked for sole custody of the child and child support. He says Sherri wouldn't let him work outside of the home. Isn't he allegedly a screenwriter>

I don't really have anything to say about the divorce/baby, it just seems like a mess on every level that something that can be a mess. But, right now I'm watching the final season of How I Met Your Mother and it is reminding me that she is SO funny. A shame that she can't be that talented and have her personal life together.

It's very Tori and Dean - she probably didn't want him to work because he might cheat while out of her sight! I actually sort of believe his story, but that doesn't make him any less a douchebag for running to tell it. That gal is messed up, but damn does she know how to pick a loser. I find it hard to believe that she missed all the signs of this guy being a manipulative creep. But I'm guessing she picked him anyway because Jesus was being thrown around as bait.
Why is this in a British rag? Do they even know who the hell Sherri and Sal are? I know Americans obviously read it too since it's online, but it is still more geared towards British based news/gossip. Anyway, it's incredibly icky that he's putting that baby's picture everywhere in hopes of guilting Sherri into supporting him. She has zero ties to that baby, and it must hurt like hell to see if she really wanted another child.

I know Americans obviously read it too since it's online, but it is still more geared towards British based news/gossip. It actually isn't. Apparently, it's the most read English-language newspaper website in the world. Here's an article about the growth strategy behind the barrage of z-list paparazzi pics on the site. I thought it was an interesting peak behind the curtain because I was often like "Why the hell do British people care what Nene Leakes thinks of Wendy Williams?!" On topic: It really is a mess of a situation, from top to bottom. Even the surrogate is getting screwed over. I just looked up Lamar's IMDB profile and he actually has worked as a television writer, briefly seven years ago. I don't know if his story is true or not and I'm not entirely sure this was a long scam, but my sympathies lie with Sherri. I've gone back and read the gossip that was coming out and everything indicates that Sherri backed off after Lamar asked for full custody along with child support payments. I know gossip isn't 100% reliable, so maybe his version is accurate.

Wouldn't the surrogate relinquish her parental rights before leaving the hospital?
The only place in my state that I know facilitates surrogate births will only use the birth mother's eggs or donor eggs, the surrogate mother is never the biological mother.

If the surrogate were to relinquish rights and since Sherri refuses to claim the baby, then who gets listed as the mother on the birth certificate? I guess no one considered giving the baby up for adoption. The surrogate got paid, right? This whole situation is weird.

If there were lawyers involved beforehand AT ALL, there MUST be legal doucumentation stating the gestational carrier is not a legal parent/guardian. If they didn't use attorneys (could they really be THAT dumb?), then all bets are off, I guess.

So far, the evidence suggests that they really are THAT dumb.

What type of paperwork involved probably depends on the state the surrogate pregnancy is taking place in. It probably also depends who the bio mother of the baby is.
Of course, it's a good idea to get lawyers involved whenever you are dealing with a situation as delicate as surrogacy. But people can be stupid. Many couples use a longtime friend as their surrogate. If there is a long established friendship it would probably be very easy to think, "Oh we don't need a lawyer! Sally won't give us any trouble handing the baby over! She knows how much we want this!" People forget hormones can be a very powerful thing.
