I just googled, and there are stories that go back a few years that Gabriel might be kind of racist, although it's all "sources say Gabriel is borderline racist" and that he used an undetermined slur of some sort. It's possibly true (and not in the theoretical-math way) I wonder whether these stories were from the period before Nahla was born. Did Halle not hear about them? Did she not notice any red flags in her relationship before Nahla was born? I know I would not want to have a child with a guy who was "kind of racist" (and I'm glad that didn't happen with douchebag ex). One should check that crap out beforehand, no? Halle hasn't made the best decisions when choosing a husband/life partner in the past. By the way, what's the over/under for a story to circulate about Olivier having an affair?

Honestly given her track record for throwing around accusations at Gabriel, I discount anything coming from Halle unless there are corroborating witnesses. And I don't count Olivier. Didn't she vaguely accuse him of abuse/neglect at one point and that was discounted by the court?
Gabriel could be a racist but given Halle's history of dragging him into court and vilifying him, for now I tend to give him the benefit of the doubt over her.

One reason I don't believe her, there's no proof. If he's a known racist or borderline one, why hasn't she gotten him on tape spewing racial epithets at her? Or why no nanny cam in Nahla's room? For a woman that has done nearly everything to gain full custody, why doesn't she have any proof? Why isn't she taping every conversation with him?
And those stories, chonies, came from his ex-girlfriend, whom he dumped to be with Halle. I vaguely remember she popped up when they had the custody case, but was quickly discredited by Gabriel's family and friends.

I was a little sceptical about the racist allegations too but then I read the Daily Mail article on it and the judge in the matter seems to have accepted that Gabriel did indeed use those words. Of course, judges can get it wrong but there must be some compelling evidence out there for the court to accept it. It's not like the courts have accepted everything Halle has alleged over the past few years so to uphold this one suggests there's, unfortunately, some truth to it.

A discredited ex has no real credibility, but like Yossarian said, a judge seemed to take the situation seriously, although I'm unclear about what the judge actually said--it could be something like, "hey, if it's true, you know that's not cool, Dr. Stockingcap." I can believe that Halle is grasping at straws and possibly making things up or blowing things out of proportion, but sometimes a stopped clock is still right on occasion.

I don't think I have seen her son. She better hope things go well with Olivier or she will be battling Gabriel and Olivier. For all the fighting she does with Gabriel she should have gone the sperm donor route. I think she enjoys relationship drama.

In some weird way I feel bad for Halle. She has chosen terrible men to date and/or marry because, despite being gorgeous, she did not grow up with a strong sense of self, and relied a lot on her beauty to get by and get a career, and probably saw "strong" men as validating her existence. Halle was pretty well-off and successful before she got pregnant, so it probably would have been ideal, knowing her temperament and her inability to give up control, if she had just gone the sperm bank route (or found a father willing to give up his parental rights). But she constantly has to have a man in her life. It's just sort of sad.
I guess any real pity should be reserved Nahla, of course, who has to grow up with two very hostile parents, but Halle has always struck me as being a slightly tragic figure. Like all of her insecurities -- about being in Hollywood, her racial identity, being considered beautiful (and all the pressure that that creates) -- has made her fragile and nutty at the same time.

You have a point. However, when you're pushing 50 and still making the same stupid mistakes then something is wrong. So she's either willfully ignorant, delusional and/or narcissistic. It's one thing to decide not to grow as a human being if you don't have children, but once you decide to bring another life into the world you need to get your shit together.

Yes, she is setting a dangerous precedent here. If things go south with Olivier, it's going to end badly for her. I can totally see him snatching the boy and calling Halle all kinds of names.
