Instead someone suggested that she should have drawn up a contract with Gabriel that would have headed off a lot of these issues at the pass before Halle gave birth to Nahla. That's so weird. What would the contract have said? Like, a prenup for a child? Would that hold up in court like a prenup would? The thing is, he actually wants to parent the child, so I don't know that that would have worked out. I totally agree with you that she should have gone the sperm donor route. Or adoption!

No, an agreement wouldn't stand up in court, if Dad wants to parent. Not in any state. As Hamatron already suggested, the only clear path to single motherhood is legal insemination or adoption.

I remember Halle and Gabriel being madly in love when they first got together. It's a shame their relationship disintegrated so thoroughly after their daughter was born. This is just a toxic situation all around.

I think the person on That's so weird. What would the contract have said? Like, a prenup for a child? Would that hold up in court like a prenup would? I think the person was making the argument that the pre-child agreement should have laid out stipulations about the amount of child support to be paid if the parents were to split (as Halle is seeking to have her payments to Gabriel reduced). It also could have covered other issues like what to do with Nahla's hair (which was also a point of contention). I still think if Halle didn't want to deal with a child's father anyway, she should have gone to a sperm bank or adopted.

Read an article last night about Jeremy Renner and his ex. He's paying her $13K per month and Halle thinks $16K is too much. Have a seat, Halle.

I don't think that pre-conception contracts would be enforceable. Child support and other legal dealings having to do with custody etc are supposed to be in the best interest of the child, not the parents.

Halle really should have just gone to a sperm bank. She could've picked out all her desired attributes and not had to deal with an actual, pesky man.

Honestly, I think she did in that Hollywood kinda way. Hey look, a hotter than hell model, we would make beautiful children. She wouldn't have found someone that remotely 'looked' like Gabriel in a sperm bank. Something tells me her criteria was just that shallow. Who knows, though. Maybe it was love.

Or lust. She seems like an impulsive person.

I don't know how messed up the men she has children are, but having a second parent gives the babies a chance at having someone less crazy than Halle completely controlling their lives. I wonder when Nalah is older if she'll choose to stay with her dad, or send herself to boarding school.
