Since we're gearing up for an election...
<taps mike> "In the interest of full disclosure, I will admit yes, it's true. I am Disneyland's bitch, and I would watch Captain Jack Sparrow read the phonebook. No more questions." <Lady Trentham leaves the podium among photo flashes and general uproar>
ETA I just dearly wish Depp would get back to his sober self.

Shiiiiit. Of course I'm guessing he won't get more than a fine, but still.

Fun fact: Apparently one many reasons that Australia is super strict about bringing animals into the country is that they don't have rabies over there and would like to stay that way. Pretty cool!

The UK is the same way. Animals must be quarantines for quite awhile when entering. I'm sure Depp (or his managers) knew this and tried to skirt the law.
He's really fallen in popular opinion. Smug, entitled, and a mess.

I think in the UK, it depends on what country you're coming from. If you're entering from the majority of Western European and *most* other Western countries, you only need proof of vaccinations and a specific type of microchip. Not that it's an easy process, exactly, but it generally doesn't involve a quarantine. (This is a fairly recent change, though)
The only other place I can think of with such a strict policy is Hawaii.

Yeah, the UK is way more relaxed these days (England is, at least). I had three friends move over there a year or so ago, and they were all super happy/shocked/elated that their cats weren't going to get quarantined for months or left in the States.

Oops, it was the late 90s when I dealt with the quarantine laws in the UK. Glad it's gotten easier from the US and Western Europe.
Back to Depp, though, does it make me a bad person that I want them to pursue charges against him? (I would think it ridiculous against any non-celebrity, but he just irks me. Flying dog in on private jet and hiding that fact doesn't help to make him more likable.)

Kevin Smith decided to put his 2 cents in to the fight. Daily MailUmm...no, Kevin. As you stated, laws are laws and they are put in place to protect the inhabitants of a particular country. In this case, Australia isn't being overly dramatic. Depp & Heard flaunted the laws and got reprimanded accordingly. If anyone blew this out of portion, it was Johnny waiting until the final hour to get his dogs out of the country.
