I'm American but I'm close enough to get CTV and it's on my DVR. Are they only traveling within Canada again? *snotty American* How many places can there possibly be to visit there? *snotty American*

Already confirmed that they go international this year.
Free gas for life is like the best prize ever! Considering I'm paying $1.40 a litre, that's like manna from heaven.

I couldn't believe the last team was going to take a penalty on that water challenge. They're one of two last teams - surely they didn't think it would be a non-elimination leg. Although what other logic would they be using to take a penalty when fighting for last place? Weird.
I didn't like that the three flights thing basically made it a sure thing that group A would all come in first, then group B, and group C would fight not to be eliminated. Usually there's a bunching opportunity after something like that.
Other than that, good episode, very diverse cast. Too pretty, and not enough ordinary citizens, but I guess that's reality TV these days. Lots of challenges for one ep.

I saw the eliminated team on The Social and she said that she knew they were last, she knew that her body was shutting down (she's in healthcare) and she literally could not complete the task and she needed to get out of the cold water.
I loved that water task, btw. one of the best challenges on any season of Amazing Race, IMO.
I watched the episode again with Batgirl last night and I got hung up on John describing Victoria as being surrounded by mountains. It's not surrounded by mountains! - it's on an island! It's surrounded by water! You can see the mountains that surround Vancouver and Washington's Mount Baker in the distance, but I wouldn't describe that as surrounded.
Like I said, I got a bit hung up on a stupid detail.

I guess they had to cut it during editing but I was a little miffed at the beginning of the ep. They started at the Columbia Icefield Glacier and had to drive to Calgary, thereby driving the Icefields Parkway, which is one of the most stunning drives on the planet, and they cut almost all of it out!

The Race returns tonight!! This article from TV Guide online has some footage that the reporter took. I particularly like the start of the race from her perspective - we get to see the camera & sound guys running to keep up with the contestants.

Not happy the dentists came in first. They're too alpha for my tastes, not to mention too tan. They're just scary looking!
I am happy the Miami realtors went, though. They didn't seem like they'd improve over time as people.
I watch every season of Survivor yet have no memory of the two on the race this season.

So, once a team says they are not completing a task and taking the penalty are they not allowed to change their mind? I don't understand why the realtors once they realized that they were going to finish last didn't go back and try and finish the task. They would have had another 4 hours to try and still beat the other two teams. Then again they thought the sun rises in the west so they'd probably still be out there.
Those dentists are the dentists of my nightmares.

After just completing the second season of AR Canada, I definitely like that version better. For the second season they cast nice, ordinary, flawed but likable people who produced very little drama. Sounds boring, but it's actually more enjoyable to watch. AR America seems to make more of an effort to cast....interesting characters (to put it nicely). CTV has full episodes of season 2 online if anyone wants to check it out. (I'm such a turncoat!)
