Somehow I find her less annoying by remembering that she is probably smarter than 99% of the people on that red carpet.
She totally disappointed me, though, by falling into the classic "Oh, it's Cannes--let's do an homage to Grace Kelly's Grecian gown from To Catch A Thief" line of thinking. I expected more from her.

Raging famewhore. And I think they are in it just for mutual publicity advantage. Plus there is probably a contract mandating one healthy child.

The fact that she is smart makes it feel more pathetic to me (I was going to say sad... but I think pathetic is better ;p). It feels too desperate; in particular when she is posing with the cast (WTF??), that is not done at Cannes (or, on most red carpets that I recall). This is TomKat levels of f%ckery IMHO.
She is beautiful; and I see no issue with her using this/enjoying it. It's just that with a person that intelligent and beautiful... she seems better than that level of attention seeking. She clearly isn't though. Team: Raging Famewhore.

I think Brad and Angie have done this "I'm not in the movie but I will pose beside my SO with the rest of the cast anyway" business also. I've never seen a "civilian" spouse do it.

Oh my gosh, I think that dress is horrifying, and so inappropriate for a 'civilian' on that particular red carpet. I can't decide if she knew it would be difficult to wrangle, or if it was just badly thought out. I'm not generally a fan of her clothing sense, she often seems to be going for a "startle" effect.

Aniston was a producer of Troy (through her and Pitt's joint production company) so it was appropriate for her to pose with the rest of the people who worked on the movie. Angelina has posed with Pitt on the red carpet at Cannes, but she ducked out when it was time for the cast to pose together. I saw video once of the Inglourious Basterds premiere and there was somebody specifically in charge of escorting her away and inside when it was time for the cast to pose together, which is exactly what should have happened with Amal.

I agree with y'all that Amal definitely has a famewhoring streak. I can't hate her, though - yes, she was lucky enough to attract the eye of a celebrity, but she's a rare civilian spouse that actually has an education and is successful in her life. Locally, she was in the news because she was part of the legal team that helped free Mohamed Fahmy, a journalist who was imprisoned with two of his colleagues in Egypt. He returned to Canada in October after being held for two years. So for that, Amal gets my everlasting respect.

I'd love it if thought bubbles could have manifested themselves over Julia's head during the red carpet.

I hope that George horns in on the photo ops on the courthouse steps at her next trial at the Hague.
Then the quid pro quo "you give me serious points while i give you fame points" will be totally solidified.
