Dean might be too busy frolicking in the meadows with his new girlfriend to notice Sam gone. I will say, as much as I'm enjoying these past few episodes, I'm not sure yet how to feel about the Dean/Amara stuff. A few years back, the fangirls were begging for Dean to hook up with Abbadon- and that I could have gotten behind. Abbadon was pretty awesome. Grossly underused- but awesome for the time she was around. Amara hasn't grown on me at all. I'm still not even sure what her agenda is yet so I don't even know what she wants with Dean... or if Dean is just a distraction from her agenda (again, whatever that might be) So I'm not feeling that. But, regardless of how that pans out, I'm enjoying everything else. The show actually LOOKS cool again. They finally started putting some effort into their set designs and special effects again. Amazing what can happen when angel/demon politics get dropped and whole plot-lines aren't being developed around new characters no one cares about and who are never heard from again anyway. And plus spoiler: Lucifer!! LUCIFER BACK!!! YAY!!! SO HAPPY!!! Ok, I am very nervous for Sam since it's pretty obvious if Lucifer can't have him as a vessel he's going to opt for having him as a non-con snuggle bunny. But regardless of the imperilment of Sam... It's LUCIFER BACK!!! Now if they could just get Gabriel in front of the camera instead of behind it all would be nearly perfect in SPN favorite land![/spolier]

I liked little girl Amara a lot better than adult Amara.

Very long video (27mins or so), but very fun. Sam, Dean, Kevin, Gabriel, Chuck and well Jason Manns get very muddy, sweaty and wet climbing over lots of stuff and all earn the title of 'Tough Mudder' by the end. Nothing to do with the show beyond most of these guys are on it. But I kept thinking how awesome it would be if the show had the scope and imagination... I mean this could be what Hell is like. And they all have to pull themselves and each other through Hell. Muddy, squishy, sweaty Hell. p.s. Osric Chau is adorable!! I wish they could get him back on the show somehow. I know Kevin's dead and a ghost. But hey, Kevin could have a look-a-like cousin out there who could come hang with the boys. I wish they'd get Gabriel back too.

How much do you want to bet that Carver will squander the dramatic potential of Sam trapped in Lucifer's cage to wrap it up by mid-episode?

Hard to tell, though in the previews it looks like their will be some further action in the cage at least for a few more scenes/episodes. The bad side of that is... well they're in a CAGE. It's not the most interesting set piece. I think they should have found a way to get more metaphorical and not just shoved the actors behind some literal bars.
But dang it, I'm just so glad to have Lucifer back in the mix! I really wish they could work Gabriel back in there as well.

Well that was an episode.
Good things: Sam holding out against Lucifer, Crowley in footie pajamas, "Mom, I got a Sam!", flashback to young Colin Ford canoodling with Rory Gilmore, and Lucifer dressed as Santa.
What I didn't like: Lucifer's slamming Sam about not looking for Dean when he was in Purgatory. Who knew Lucifer got wifi in the cage and read the anti-Sam posts on IMDB and TWOP? Seriously, that dialogue sounded as if it were lifted verbatim from a Deannut screed. The flashback to Amelia - there's a character nobody wanted to see again. Misha Collins's performance as Casifer. It reeked. He was obviously trying to channel Pellegrino, but he just looked like a combination of constipated and drunk. Last, but not least, Casifer snapping Rowena's neck. Come on Red, when someone asks you a question like that, lie! Now we'll never see the Megacoven.

At first I was like 'Buh? Clip Show??' Although that did solve the dilemma of not having to film solely in the cage the whole episode. But when Lucifer was showing Sam where he'd been great and where he'd gone wrong all I could think was 'No, that's when the show was great and where the writers went wrong' (Did we REALLY ever need to see Amelia again?!?!? Blergh!) But still YAY Colin Ford!!
I don't know how I feel about the rest of it. I wasn't expecting Casifer!! LOL!! And I agree, I don't think Misha quite has Lucifer down. He comes off more like Naughty Cas than the Devil in disguise. Although, Naughty Cas could be fun.
I forgot about the Mega Coven! But Charlie had lots of interesting things cooking and they offed her in the midst of it, so its not unprecedented. This show is really horrible to females! But aside from the Mega Coven- which I admit I'd forgotten about- I don't know what purpose Rowena was serving besides getting captured and forced to use her magic to help Crowley and/or the Winchesters. So I wasn't too bummed. Except... well if they were actually going to do something with that Mega Coven- I wish they would have done it! As it is, they never mentioned it again, and I forgot all about it.
Still, they COULD bring her back. They could bring anyone back. I was bummed when Lucifer mentioned Gabriel and Raphael being dead... because on this show they're only as dead as the writers let them be!! But since they keep harping on it, I'm guessing we won't ever see Gabriel or Raphael again *pout*!! Rowena? I'd like to have her back if she was actually going to build that Mega Coven. But if she's just going to be constantly in chains and glaring at everyone, then no.
I wish instead of torturing Crowley by killing his mother in front of him, Lucifer would have cursed him to be trapped forever in those footie pajamas. I could have watched a whole show of just that scene!

This one was pretty good. Not the best, but it had more good parts than bad. Dee Wallace is made of awesome! I'm surprised both Dean and Sam didn't instantly pack up their guns to move into the retirement home with her. They also missed a golden opportunity when she told them she'd seen a ghost to have her also say 'I've seen a ghost!.. And an extra-terrestrial... and a pack of werewolves... and some desert mutants... and fuzzy critter things... and a rabid dog and hey you know this banshee thing is really nothing to me. I'll take care of it, you two just sit and look pretty!'
The banshee CGI was TERRIBLE! That's the main thing that's keeping me from calling this episode solidly good. That and the rehashing of Season 8! Good gravy! They're only addressing it now because I guess they still have fans howling about Sam never apologizing or whatever. But now it's like he'll never stop apologizing! And it's also making me nervous that they might bring Amelia back for some stupid reason. BLERGH!
The new hunter was pretty good. And she's a perfect example of how to introduce a character, give her a backstory, show us all what she's made of without having her take over the whole episode and make the Winchesters seem like extras. But she's female- so either we'll never see her again or she's DOOMED!
I'm still not feeling Casifer, though I can tell Misha is trying. His reactions to Dean still come off as more 'Cas' than 'Lucifer'. He doesn't quite have Lucifer's energy or sarcasm down. And his conversations with Dean seemed more like 'Cas and Dean talk' instead of Lucifer tries to act like Cas while talking to Dean. But again, I can tell he's trying. They aren't giving him too many interesting things to do. (Though blowing up angels like balloons filled with Chunky soup never gets old!)

I loved Dee Wallace. I liked Eileen too. I hope that she becomes a love interest or at least a friend for Sam and doesn't get killed off. It was refreshing to see a new character who didn't automatically take over and make the boys look stupid.
I didn't like the apology for S8. It's been three years, and Sam had no way to get Dean out of Purgatory or even know he was there. If Dean had an ounce of generosity, he'd be glad his brother was safe and somewhat happy during that year, not wasting his life on a futile quest.[/bittersamfan]
As for Casifer, or as the Destiellers call him, "Lustiel", eh. All I see is a bad impression of Pellegrino.

Eh, that last episode was dull and lame except for Crowley. I'm still not liking Misha's performance as Casifer.
Are they ever going to do anything with Amara? She's the lamest big bad to date.
