I loved this episode! It had a genuinely creepy series of villains, Sam got something to do, and I loved his confrontation with the evil clown. The elevator scene was priceless with both of them looking at the lights trying to be nonchalent.
Donna was a lot more tolerable than usual.
The show is definitely better without the angel politics.

Just when I think I'm out, they suck me back in. Oh show, how can I quit you when you've finally become watchable again?
The show even confirmed Crowley and Dean's bromance!

It was the first Sam-centric episode since S5 - I loved it! I just wish Sully had gotten Sam to runaway before the phone rang.

This whole season has been pretty watchable. I am surprised and relieved.

That begs the question of why did we have to endure the last four-five seasons of dreck?

That begs the question of why did we have to endure the last four-five seasons of dreck? It does! Like, when Sully was all gushing 'You saved the world, Sam!' I was like 'Dude. Did you stop watching after Season 5 or what?' I didn't like this episode was much as the past few. But it's still some of the best SPN stuff I've seen in YEARS! This one was ok. I thought Little Sam looked more like a Little Dean. And I was disappointed that Sully was just a guy. I guess they wanted to keep him fairly normal for the more emotional scenes. But I wanted to see more Sparkle-like characters. Sparkle was awesome. As was Nikki. Weems- air guitar and all and Sully creeped me out a little by just being regular grown men. Esp. when Sully was all gung-ho ready to run away with Little Sam. Just... eww. Grown ass man wants to run away with little boy. Throw some donkey ears on him and I might be less squicked. Sully was ok overall I guess. Just not quite was I was expecting when they hyped this episode up a while back. And I don't get all this doom and gloom talk of Sam maybe needing to go back in the cage. Where is this coming from? Doesn't it make more sense to just get Lucifer OUT of the cage? I mean, yes, I get Sam is having visions of himself in the cage- but I thought that was maybe just to make him THINK of the cage and THINK of Lucifer and then think maybe they needed Lucifer to help stop the Darkness. I'm not sure what sticking Sam back in the cage would do to fix anything... other than to give him something to worry and stress over in the meantime. They haven't really even stumbled upon any lore about the Darkness to make them think anything yet. It would be different if they came upon some passage that hinted that stopping the darkness would require some kind of sacrifice and then Sam has all these images of himself tortured Hellraiser style and decides he must be the sacrifice. But really, right now they have no clue other than Sam's vague flashes... which to me don't match up to anything going down with the Darkness. So, I'm enjoying this season so far- but that seems lame. I can't get worked up and worried about Sam going into the cage unless it makes some logical sense. Now, if it's that he has to take Lucifer's place so Lucifer can come kick the Darkness's butt- that I could sort of buy. It still seems dumb because why can't the cage just be empty and isn't Michael still in there too? But I could still see a slender thread of reason there. Right now 'Sam goes in Cage = Darkness goes away' seems way too lazy and dumb even for THESE writers. But all that aside and forgetting the Darkness all together for the moment. These past few episodes have been really enjoyable just on their own. They feel very Season 1 or 2-ish and remind me of what was originally good about the show and the Winchesters. So I'm not complaining there. I'm just annoyed they seem to want the audience to be hand wringing over the idea of Sam going in the cage without bothering to give us a decent reason for it. Heck, at this point, I'd take 'Cause the Demon Tablet says so!' over what they've come up with... which is nothing. I'd still think it was dumb, but at least it would show a tiny bit of effort on their parts. Otherwise, forget the cage, the Darkness, the visions and concentrate solely on making more Season One-like episodes! YAY!!

The writers have finally remembered that Sam is a main character on the show, much to the teeth-gnashing rage of the deannuts on IMDB.
Yes, the show hasn't been this good since S2. I hope the writers buy a clue and deep-six the angel/demon plot lines for good.
I'm glad somebody finally gave Sam credit for saving the world. It really irked me when Dean told Claire that Cas saved the world last year. Uh no, Cas yelled "assbutt". Not to mention that Cas is the one who told Sam for months that he had to kill Lilith, then let Sam out of the panic room to do it.[/bittersamgirl]

Just wait until Dean finds out where Sam is. Look out Crowley, Dean will be pissed!
