Sling, schming. I read on a different site that she was running errands on the Upper West Side. I live on the Upper West Side. If there was even the tiniest chance I could cootchie cootchie coo her little baby, I'd die a happy woman. I just think she's a dream. My one and only "girl crush".

Goddamn! She looks fantastic. As for the sling, you can clearly see that he is getting air, so I have no problem with it.

Not only is the wee little one getting air, but Keri almost continually has her hand on the sling for extra support. And hot damn, she looks fantastic - I wish I looked half as good as that, and I have never even hand kids. I remember reading that she wanted an all natural birth with no drugs, etc. I wonder if went through with that.
And I too developed a small girl crush on her after seeing her movie. I wish Sarah Michelle Gellar would go that route, stop trying to make blockbusters, and just make a good movie, that will get you good press and put you on the map.

I have no problem with the sling. I do have a problem with a newborn with a developing immune system out in public like that. Most folks I know avoid crowds until an infant hits the 4 week mark. Of course walks and fresh air are important, and maybe they were only indoors for a few minutes, but I also heard they took the baby to Joe's Pub, which is just absurd, imo.

Clementine74 - hey, I'm your neighbor! In fact, I'm taking my little baby to the pediatrician in an hour, and now that you've told me that MY one and only girl crush might be in the 'hood with her tot, I'm fervently hoping to see her in the doctor's office. I can already picture us bonding over our wee-ones...
Er, okay, that might be taking it too far.
Wol-I'll respectfully disagree. In NYC, you see newborns everywhere, and my pediatrician told me with my first kid that I could go just about anywhere and do just about anything. So I did. And both of my kids are the pictures of health. So are all the other kids I know in the city whose mothers did the same thing.
Though I will say that I thought Joe's Pub was weird, not because of the germs, but because it's clearly an adult setting and people might wanted to have enjoyed their night w/o a baby there.

Hey, freelancergirl, wouldn't it be funny if we already know each other? Yes, I'm a little naive...but PM me anyway! As much as I love Keri, I am doubtful that I would have enjoyed a night out at Joe's Pub with a newborn there. Not sure what she was thinking. Although it does seem like a very NY, hippy-dippy kind of thing to do.

Then again, yesterday in New York the news featured a story about a woman who left her baby in a car with the windows up for 20 minutes in Brooklyn. Keri had the baby with her. In light of that, I'll give her a pass. ;D

I didn't take my baby anywhere until she was 2 weeks old. After that? I was all over town with her, even took her to crowded noisy restaurants. She'd sleep right through it. I didn't take her any where there was cigarette smoke, though.
Keri is still glowing. She looks happy and amazing. And I'm glad to see she's wearing the baby, that is so good for them. He's getting enough air. You can't see it in those photos, but I'll be she's checking on him every 5 seconds!

Although I wouldn't take a baby to a pub, I don't think it's the end of the world that she took her baby out. Women all over the world have to go out and do errands with their babies soon after. She's not special.
And the sling is really ideal for the baby. It creates a sense of comfort for the baby...they like to be wrapped tight. Many cultures have used this sling for centuries and survived. They must be doing something right.

Taking babies to bars/pubs has become kind of common hipster thing around here. My friends started taking their baby to Happy Hour when she was two weeks old. (They proved us all wrong-- we'd been saying that we'd never see them out again once the baby arrived.)
As long as there's no cigarette smoke, I don't see the problem. It gives me hope that I might be able to handle having a kid someday, since my bar time is sacred.
