He struck me as someone who knew that he's been less-than-great (as a person) and was feeling a bit contrite about it. And that's why he thanked the people who have helped him through the years rather than a list of producers and agents. I got that impression too.

I'm very glad he thanked Jennifer. I am happy for his win, whatever else I think of him.

I read that he thanked Jennifer during his speech when he said, "Cora and Jen." Apparently Cora is his dog. I think I was expecting something a little more elaborate for Jennifer rather than throwing her in there with about 15 other people (and dogs) so I missed that. I thought he seemed very subdued during the speech. He did seem subdued. He definitely came across as someone who has had a rough year. I didn't see anything wrong with how he thanked Jennifer, especially since they are broken up now. Who knows what kind of terms they are on or what the exact circumstances are. A lot of people probably wouldn't have mentioned an ex, period, regardless of how long they had been together or how recent the break-up.

I hope he was able to stay sober at the after parties. It's not a good idea for anyone who is newly sober to go to a booze-soaked even, much less when you've just scored the biggest win of your career. I hope he had a sober coach-type person with him.

I can't stop looking at his Emmy pictures, his look was perfect. As handsome as he is, I frequently think he has weird haircuts or unfortunate beards, but the tux, the hair, the smile were all working that night.
