They do always pile on Jerry. Even Ben, who's a nice, normal guy is mean to him.
At first it pained me to say that I like Parks and Rec more than 30 Rock, but the scene where Leslie was announcing her candidacy and they all had to get to the tiny stage by walking on ice cemented it for me. Such a funny show, but it also has a heart. And every single actor in it is amazing, not a weak link among them.

I love it as well, so very much. It's much funnier and has more heart than The Office does now, sigh. Paul Rudd's character is adorably stupid, "My dad made these!" "I love dogs!!"

Even the cynical characters have a heart. And yet it's not schmaltzy and preachy. It's just sweet. Like the friendship between Anne and Leslie. It just makes me smile. Plus like you said it's just FUNNY and there isn't a weak link among them: Andy, Tom, Leslie, Ron Swanson, etc. It's my favorite comedy since Arrested Development and yes it tops 30 Rock for me now (which I used to love as well). Oh I love Paul Rudd. Whenever I see him I think of another comedy I loved: Reno 911.

Netflix only carries up to Season 3 of Parks & Rec, and I finished that last week, so I have started 30 Rock. Not getting the hype so far. It's well done but I've seen those characters and those situations many, many times. Dick Van **** only had a staff of two and his crew brought more funny (when Mary Tyler Moore wasn't crying in her wibbly-wobbly "Oooohhh, Rob..." voice).
Wow, never had that hapen to me before. I guess I won't be regaling y'all with the story of the little Dutch boy who stuck his finger in the wall they hold back the North Sea with.

The first season of 30 Rock had some brilliant moments--but for me didn't become "Must Watch" until late in the Season, around about the Valentine's Day episode (there's an ode to Cleveland) that just had me in stitches. But the show didn't complete gel until the 2nd and 3rd seasons. I keep trying to watch "Parks and Recreation" on Netflix, and just can't get over how bad the first two episodes were. Should I skip the first season all together?

I took Parks & Rec off my Instant Queue after the first 2 episodes didn't do much for me. I went back to it when I ran out of other stuff and I'm realy glad I did. It's hard to pinpoint when it took off after you've watched 3 seasons back to back, but if you're Netflixing you can jump ahead a few episodes at a time until you hit paydirt.

I wouldn't skip the entire first season but, yeah, definitely the first half was not that great. It gets progressively better though. If you're Netflixing it, at least watch the last disc, maybe the last two discs.

This show is working out for me as Cheers did back in the 80's. (yup, dating myself here) Hated it at first, but it started growing on me, then turned into one of my favorite shows. Things I loved from the get-go like Glee and Modern Family stopped being must see TV long ago, but this one is still hanging in there.
TC: I have a wee crush on Tom.

I didn't think season one was that bad but the first two episodes were definitely the weakest ones. I don't think you'd really miss anything if you skip all of season one but it is only 6 episodes. I would say it starts to really improve in the last episode of season one. And then there is a huge leap in quality starting in season 2.
