Yup, you can say whatever you want about those royals, but their jewelry is to die for. Except for Queen Rania's emerald tiara, oy, what a misuse of those stones!

It looks more like rock candy than emeralds! I'd be afraid small children would ask if they could have a piece.

This has to be one of the worst fashion decisions that Diana ever made! A jewelled headband? ::shudder::

Is this the same tiara that Victoria is wearing here?
I have to say while I love the tiara (its one of my favourites), I can't say it goes well with the amethysts. As for Rania's piece of emerald confectionary, while I love emerals, I don't think they go well in tiaras, I'm not a fan of Victoria's emerald and diamond one either: ,
This has to be one of the worst fashion decisions that Diana ever made! A jewelled headband? ::shudder:: As I recall, she'd forgotten her tiara and needed something, so she refashioned a bracelet or necklace- can't remember which. The tiara Queen Rania is wearing is so...green. It looks like plastic. Something to consider for the tiara-minded is that those things weigh several pounds, and the human head is not used to balancing them. Plus, in order to keep them on, you need a number of hairpins, which will probably be digging in by the end of an evening.

I love Victoria's diamond and emerald one...I like the design and the use of stones (unlike Rania's monstrosity). It looks classy and understated, for a tiara.
IIRC, Diana wore her necklace on her forehead because she'd gotten badly sunburnt and couldn't wear it around her neck. I remember seeing that in some TV show about her. My thought: why wear it at all, then? It looked a bit silly.

Oxynia, there was one with the sunburn and one where she forgot her tiara. Can't remember which one this was.

This has to be one of the worst fashion decisions that Diana ever made! A jewelled headband? ::shudder:: looks up the headband in The Queen's Jewels by Leslie FieldAh yes-that would be Queen Mary's diamond and emerald choker. She had it made using some of the Cambridge emeralds. The present Queen never wore it, but gave it to Diana as a wedding present. Then Diana had it mounted on VELCRO to wear it as a headband! You know, maybe if she had a sleek little bob, that would have looked nice-like a flapper headband? Instead it looks like those hideous 1980s sweatbands. Queen Mary would have died all over again. And here is a photograph of Mary wearing the necklace. Note that it's the one on the top of the stack-not the bottom one, which is the Deli Durbar necklace. More faves: Queen Victoria's sapphire and diamond tiaraFortunately, unlike the diamond and emerald one, this is still in the family. I believe the Harewoods, the descendents of George V's daughter Princess Mary have it. Prince Albert, the Prince Consort designed it, and after he died, the Queen would sometimes wear it atop her widow's cap and veil. Here she is in 1844, wearing it behind her head. Princess Beatrice's strawberry leaf tiara Queen Victoria's youngest daughter, Beatrice, owned this one. I believe she gave it to her daughter in law, the wife of the Marquess of Carisbrooke. I don't know what happened to it after that. And finally, the Fife Tiara, which belonged to Princess Louise, the Duchess of Fife-Edward VII's eldest daughter. Her family still has it. As for my least favorite? The Queen Mum's honeycomb tiara. Way too big and bulky looking for my taste. Maybe if it was just one or two rows with smaller stones it would be pretty. They've been letting Camilla wear it lately. (Damn, that was a lot longer than I meant it to be! If I get too carried away on this, just tell me so. Historical royals and their bling is one of my obsessions.).

Is this the same tiara that Victoria is wearing here? I have to say while I love the tiara (its one of my favourites), I can't say it goes well with the amethysts. It certainly looks like the same tiara although I have no idea why Queen Silvia would mix sapphires and amethysts. I had just assumed that all of the pieces were amethysts. However, I have seen pics of her wearing what I consider to be odd combinations such as this one. Individually, all of the pieces she is wearing are nice, but they just IMO don't go together.
