Maybe she's color blind? Who knows? Unless it's a single piece designed to have both sapphires and amethysts, it doesn't really work.

I suppose it could be like Queen Mary's tiara that could be worn both with the Pearls and the Cambridge Emeralds. But then given her other unmatching choices, perhaps she's just not good at matching up jewellery to wear. It's a shame because they're all beautiful pieces.

True, but that tiara just has diamonds, at least in the unremovable settings. Diamonds go with just about anything.
Who knows?

Boy, I am really enjoying looking at all that bling. Except, of course, for that dreadful green Rania thing.
Keep 'em coming.

I love the title of this thread because it sounds like the royal equivalent to the Endowments thread. ;D
On topic I got nothing.

If you ever get a chance to get your hands on Tiaras: A History of Splendour, do NOT pass it up. It's by Geoffrey C. Munn.

I had gone over to Borders and they had the book but it was wrapped up so I couldn't tell what it was like and it was $75, so I passed on that one. However, then I saw it on ebay yesterday for $21 so I bought it. Apparently, it has some pages printed twice and some are upside down but all pages are there. The seller had several copies if anyone else is interested.

Oh Yes!I love those Royal Jewels that carry the blood and misfortunes of their Royal possessors. I present for you delectation, The Regent. The jewel in the crowns of Louis XV and XVI of France. Also used by the various governments of France after the beheading of Louis XVI to keep the national treasury afloat. And later used by the succeeding hapless and bumbling Royal politicos of 19th century France: And those Royal wearers all came to inglorious ends and fell off their thrones, too.
