More props if she came up with these ideas mostly by herself. I guess I'm such a cynic that I just think this 'message' was actually marketing and not really Beyonce having a strong feeling about something. And my cynicism is not directed at Beyonce specifically, but I would probably feel like this about most entertainers, and their management. Something's trending in the media/culture? Better jump on it and appropriate it for our 'art'! Maybe, but if it's a case where the marketing also serves to get people talking about race and feminism in America, then maybe it's a marketing I can get behind? IMO, I don't think it is marketing though. Her hometown was hit pretty hard by Katrina. She may have started out as "Beauty Queen" pageant girl singing songs about being bootylicious, but I think she's growing up and finding her voice. Maybe it's for money, maybe it's wanting to see a better world for her daughter, maybe it's that she wants to give other women--and especially women of color who have often been overlooked by mainstream feminism--a voice. I'm not loving the song on its own, but I liked the video, and will give her credit for a great half time performance. She works her ass off to give great performances, no matter what the reason.

Oh god, just let her do this. Seriously, did this many people criticize Anderson Cooper when he came out for all the years he spent in the closet, denying his gayness, not supporting the gay cause? Considering how many people (ahem, like the entire huge population of people supporting Trump) would find her BLM message alienating, you think this is just a marketing ploy? I think she just now has enough power for her record company, her PR team, etc. to not give two f*cks about what she wants to do.
Her performance at the SB was so "I just made this video a week ago, choreographed this song two days ago, rehearsed yesterday, couldn't get a hotel room so I had to rent on AirBnB, and nobody knew what I was doing so they couldn't even find a spot on the stage for all my dancers and I worked that football field better than either of the two teams", and I loved every minute of it.

I didn't realize she had donated so much money. I think that's great. And I want this to be sincere and her to care about this stuff. I'm happy to hear it. I get a bit turned off by the materialism (bc I'm an old hippie), but I appreciate her political evolution and her balls.

I find her boring and overrated. I don't get the hype. At least the coverage is focused on something other than whether or not she's pregnant. So there's that.

Its ridiculous. Someone on her fb said that she was boycotting her and why if she grew up well off was she pandering to "them". Um excuse me? Beyonce is black and like Oprah's incident at that Belgian boutique showed, no matter how rich you are, there are always racist assholes to treat you less than.

I think it is hilarious that Red Lobster saw a significant boost in sales after the song (which mentions that Red Lobster is where Bey likes to take her man after he fucks her real good) dropped.

She and Jay are always eating at Red Lobster. Makes sense. They do have an extensive vegan menu!
