I don't understand why he has an app, who does that? or why he's doing pop music in Jeep ads. But I do like him as an actor - he was great in Hurt Locker, I liked him the Mission Impossibles and even in that Bourne movie. I thought he was one of the more grounded actors because he worked for years before getting big and did side work flipping houses, but his recent moves are really strange. He needs to go back to acting and back away from social media and music. He has some weird Amazon store, but I just googled it and so do these people. “Renner, 48, joins Jessica Alba, Meek Mill, Carson Wentz and Adriana Lima — among many others — in curating a personalized list of various sundries on Amazon”.

I guess technically the, uh, "curating a list of various sundries" (lmaowut) is not that different from being an influencer, just on Amazon rather than instagram...but that said it makes MUCH more sense for Jessica Alba and Adriana Lima to be doing influence-y things than it does for Renner.

Hmmm, I looked at that Amazon store and it's all camping/survivalist stuff. Is that his brand? Is it an awkward tie-in to the Marvel character he plays or do people think of him as Mr. Outdoors for another reason?

I googled another article on it and they make fun of him for looking like he’s never camped in his life. The archery stuff is a Marvel tie in, I guess

I just googled 'jeremy renner camping' (in an incognito window, I'm not a fool) and could not find anything to indicate that he is particularly well known for outdoor pursuits. I think he might be precisely the target audience for survivalist-type things (middle aged angry-looking white man with spare cash) but who among us has ever thought "when the end times come, it is surely Jeremy's curated outdoorsy sundries which will save us"?

So, I cackled at three different points in this post, but I especially felt the "incognito window" bit because I youtubed some of Renner's music as a result of this thread. After I clicked through a few videos, I was like "Oh, god. I hope the algorithm doesn't start giving me a ton of recommendations of his music." (Spoiler: it did.)

Went back through the thread to see if his participation on the old “The It Factor” reality show, and it is mentioned on page 2. But the post was from 2010 so didn’t want to quote it. I watched the series and always thought he was kind of an odd duck, but as an arts student who still decades later does some community theatre and loves plays and movies, was glad to see him succeed beyond the show. On that same page are positive reactions to 2 different clips of him singing. How times and tastes change...

It feels like he should have banker enough marvel money over the years to not have to slum it in such weird side gigs.

According to IMDB, he works steadily. Maybe he manages his finances poorly? It could be he might not make as much as you think. I remember reading about one of the hobbits, the actor who played either Merry, or Pippin (he was also on Lost, I believe) only made something like 89,000 for all 3 Lord of the Rings films.
