They had to spend quite a lot of time introducing the characters and setting the scene. I agree that they should've called the police about the drug den. Also not thrilled that we get angsty teenagers. We get it, your life sucks, your school sucks, your parents suck, everything sucks. Things are about to get so much worse, whiny teenagers of America!
I hope we get more facts about patient zero, the flu shot, the heroin, and the internet rumors referenced. Looking forward to the urban pandemonium that will break out. I think it's got to get better but I hope they drop a lot of the family drama. Not here for "the zombie apocalypse made us closer as a family" Lifetime stuff.
The guy playing Nick reminds me of Johnny Depp circa Benny & Joon.

Gloria or whoever Nick's girl was is not patient zero. The nerdy kid Tobias said there had been other cases in other states.
Supposedly the creators said we will not find out how the virus started which sucks.

I liked it, slow pace and all. Nick is my favourite so far, Frank Dillane did a great job and totally looks like 90sJohnny Depp/River Phoenix.
Here's my question though...it took the folks on TWD about two seasons to figure out that it's not about being bitten. Everybody who dies, turns. But...why did they discover that so late? It seems pretty obvious in this version, no?

That is what I was wondering, why was it such a surprise to the survivors in Georgia, they must have known when you die you turn, bitten or not. I am still trying to figure out how everyone was infected, by water or air? Government experiment gone wrong?
Also, walking around a drug den and touching stuff, ewww gross.

We're not going to get the origin story, which is a major bummer. Kirkman hated the TS-19 (CDC) episode from the original recipe WD.
I wish we had more characters, or at least focused less on the tedious drama of this unappealing family, and instead got some perspective from maybe a nurse or other hospital worker who has to implement the new "flu" and dead body disposal protocols, and some paper-pusher in low or mid-level government that might not be entirely privvy to what's going on but gets a gimpse here and there of strange things, just enough to put some pieces together.

I always wondered and excuse me if it has been explained, but are the walkers also the dead from the cemetary like in other zombie movies, etc that rise out of the grave? Also if everyone is infected, then why did the people in the cars on the highway not reanimate? There were several that did not have wounds to the head.

Please send your ideas in, it would be great to see this outbreak from various points of view.

I would, but I might want to use it someday, so, no.

I think this will be a slow burn, but a worthy one. It had some very creepy moments in it.
BUT the Principal's Undead appearance seemed strange. It looked like he was attacked first, but if so, why did the school seem okay, and still locked up?
I'm also still wondering if I would automatically assume running off to the desert, just because of some weird video, if I didn't know the Zombie Apocalypse was upon us. But then, I usually do poorly on all those Apocalypse quizzes, so it's probably a "moo" point.
Loved Kim Dickens look as she closed her office door. This may be the last time.

Love those little bouncy castles in a middle of an outbreak.
