Millis, I did the same thing! Except my immediate reaction was that if I looked like her, that's how my first meeting with Lenny Kravitz would go too.
I adore her. Hunger Games was amazing largely because of her and I hope she goes far.

I haven't read the books and don't know about seeing the movie, but last night I caught an online article, I think on msnbc.com, where a few critics stated she was too "big" to be believable in the part. So, I clicked here, knowing I would find pictures. I don't know in what f-ed up world this girl could be considered big. It actually distresses me. I have to raise two girls in this crazy ass culture? She looks like a lovely girl. How can her body be criticized? My head, it explodes.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I have no problem w/Lenny Kravitz, I just hate the thought of such a young girl acting like that with a man old enough to be her father. I want her to be successful because of her talent, not because she flirts/sleeps with/whatever with all her male co-stars.

I am the PERFECT age for Lenny. Just saying. Carry on.

Some people are complaining because her character is supposed to be small and petite and from a place that is pretty strapped for food. But I'd say at least some of them are bitching because Lawrence isn't a tiny size 0 like most of her peers - like she's such a fat cow at probably a size four or six. It just shows how effed up society's views are about women's bodies. She turns in an awesome performance and carries the movie on her shoulders, and yet critics feel the need to bang on about her "baby fat" while they say absolutely nothing about her male co-star's rather strapping physique, and he's supposed to be in the same food-deprived situation as her character. It's bullshit. And I hope she doesn't listen to them, because she has a smokin' hot body. She's tall and curvy and gorgeous. Not everyone looks good with a body of a 10 year old boy with fake boobs attached, and I really hope she never becomes becomes a Hollywood lollipop head.

I didn't get that from the book, rather malnourished and on the brink of starvation. And, yeah, for that JL just looked far too healthy overall. And I'm not using healthy as a code word for "too fat" at all. I think I would've appreciated it more if they even just made her look a little worse for wear via some makeup to hollow out her eyes or something.

Except Katniss went hunting regularly, so her family was better-fed than most in her district. She had to be strong-looking, enough to be a potential winner going into the games. I never got that from the books that she was petite, but then I never got from the books that she was a person of colour. Her mother and sister are blonde and she is brunette, with darker skin. Lots of Caucasians can have darker skin, esp. if they spend a lot of time outdoors, as Katniss did.
I must be blind because I don't think there's anything remotely fat, overfed, baby-fattish, chubby, heavy, etc. about her. She looks slim enough. Those Hollywood asparagus+grapefruits are not remotely sexy.
I started reading this thread at page 5, which goes back a year. Having seem the movie, some older posts, filled with criticism about the potential movie, are quite amusing. I don't even know where this comes from. They never tossed out the notion of children doing the fighting, nor the social structure of the districts.

I know Lainey isn't well-liked around these parts, but I really liked what she had to say about this:

Well said Lainey. Athletic and strong AND smoking hot body. I really, really, REALLY hope all of this weight-crap isn't messing with Jennifer's head too much. She is going to have to be amazingly strong to withstand it.

She is SO talented, I am going to be massively crushed if she goes the way of Kate Bosworth.
