Nationwide released a statement basically saying the ad was meant to start a conversation about child safety and it was not meant to sell insurance. It was designed to kick off their "Make Safe Happen" campaign. The website mentioned at the end is supposed to have tips in ways parents can prevent childhood accidents. Ok fine. Glad to know Nationwide wasn't trying to suggest parents take out life insurance policies out on their kids. But if they had to explain their ad then clearly the ad failed to do it's job. People aren't saying, "Oh wow. I need to make sure my house is safe for kids!" They are saying, "Holy hell! WTF NATIONWIDE?!" Plus, they could have made an ad to kick off the campaign that didn't involve potentially traumatizing people.

Can I just say that I love the new Brady Bunch snickers ad with Danny Trejo and Steve Buscemi? It just makes my day when I see it.

I just saw a commercial for Subaru that should've been a Super Bowl commercial. Maybe it was. It was a bunch of dogs driving a Subaru as a family. A post office truck is going the other way, and they all bark. It was such a funny visual. And ended with a Dog tested, dog approved tag. Thought it was well done.

His recurring role as a PI on 30 Rock makes me laugh every time he's on.

Have you guys seen the Android commercial with the different animals together and the music is Robin Hood and Little John? It's kind of cute because of the funny shots of animals but I just don't get what they're trying to accomplish with it.

I like the commercial with the Hopper "Nighthawks" setting, with the amateur performers and this being their big break. Jennifer Hudson is in it, and they are singing, "Oh oh, child, things are gonna get easier..." (Isn't that a Sly Stone song?) The singers are great, and the costuming is fantastic, as is the atmosphere. There is also enough film that they and cut many different scenes from it, it's not boring.
But then there's this talking foot wearing a football helmet on it's big toe. Ewwwwww.....

My favorite is Nina Simone's version but I think the song is magically beautiful to its core. Topic? This commercial sounds gross.

My uncle was a radio d.j. from the 50s until his death about 10 years ago. He stayed with the music he started with, always playing 50s and 60s era songs. I never lived within range of the stations he worked at (he was in the El Paso, Juarez, Las Cruces area) but he'd phone me on my birthday, on air, and play the Five Stairsteps "Oh Child", and tell everyone that it was dedicated to me.
I like that ad, but I also tear up when I see it. Sniff.
