I think they started tracking weekly album sales.

So they only started tracking album sales in 1991? Wha? No, that's when Billboard started using Soundscan.

And that was when they found out that most of this country was Garth Brooks-lovin' gun-totin' maniacs! I'll take Adele over that any day.

I'm curious to know what "Garth Brooks-loving' gun totin' maniacs" think of Brooks. He supports Obama and gay marriage and I remember he won a GLAAD award at the height of his popularity in the early 90s. I can't imagine these things going over very well with that demographic and yet the numbers show something different. It's something of an enigma to me, actually. It's not all due to cross-over success, so I've always wondered. My guess is that these days, the Toby Keith crowd really doesn't like Brooks and if he were just starting out today, he'd have a different career. Oh, and I *think* he came out in support of The Dixie Chicks during that whole brouhaha when they made anti-Bush remarks. I'm not certain that the gun-totin' crowd loves Brooks all that much. But I don't really know.

I love Garth—he's a good guy, and I like his music—but I also really like Adele and hers.

I like her voice. But I usually just end up downloading a few singles. I find after awhile her songs start blending together.

I've done that in the past, but this album I listed to all the previews to it beforehand and quite enjoyed it. After getting the full album, I find that the vast majority of the songs are really good and I only skip over two songs in particular. The Target version with the additional 3 songs are OK and out of the three, I like "Can't Let Go" which she co-wrote with Linda Perry.
