I'm glad (in a woman power way) that someone her body type is kicking ass on the charts. And it's wonderful that one of the biggest acts today is a woman. She talented, but she isn't my cup of tea. I don't get the hype around her. She pretty bland. And her voice (IMO) is nowhere near the likes of a Ledisi or Jazmine Sullivan. But I get it. She's the new Celine. Bland ballads being belted out are some peoples' jams. Just not mine.

If anything, she's going to force Taylor Swift to step up her game. Taylor is probably acting out scenes from Blank Space for real as we speak, sticking a knife in a portrait of Adele. Once Taylor gets all the anger out, she's going to get serious about voice lessons. If that doesn't work, she'll try to get herself a vocal cord transplant. If that doesn't work, she'll hire Tonya Harding's ex to take care of things. Nothing will stop Taylor Swift from being the top female artist. NOTHING!!!

I'm sure Tay-Tay is sending Adele fresh baked cookies, flowers, and monogrammed footy-pajamas, and inviting her to join "the squad". Taylor is like the Borg. Either you're her enemy, or you are assimilated.

Hah. I wonder how much they really see each other as competition. I mean, I know they are the top of the charts. But Adele takes breaks and seems to have more professional boundaries, while Taylor does not. And Adele sings ballads while Swift is a pop anthem lady. It's kinda like... Madonna versus Whitney Houston. Pure ambition and drive versus vocal talent and a more "subtle" approach to celebrity/PR walk.

Adele also doesn't seem desperate to be liked. She also doesn't come across nakedly ambitious, and fake humble. She seems light-years more mature than Taylor even though they are similar in age. Different lanes musically, but I can't image Adele feuding and squabbling what other female vocalists. It all seems so immature and petty when you think of all the drama Taylor has had with Katy/Nicki/a plethora of people too numerous to name right now.

Sometimes Taylor seems like the hardest working popstar of today... She's everywhere, doing everything. Then Adele decides it's time to take off the house slippers, gets into the studio and ends up top of the charts with no more effort than belting out some songs and starting a round of publicity tours. If I were Taylor I might be chapped at that.

Especially because Adele doesn't flaunt her "squad" and has guest stars every single stop of her tour Taylor really grates.

Then Adele decides it's time to take off the house slippers, gets into the studio and ends up top of the charts with no more effort than belting out some songs and starting a round of publicity tours. If I were Taylor I might be chapped at that. Taylor also really cultivates the appearance of working hard. While Adele also did carefully chosen promo (and continues to do so), she co-writes all her songs, she'll be touring. So she puts in the work as well, but her image is tied to being a bit more remote and mysterious, so it's not stressed as much. All these really successful music acts grind away at it,and many of them have a decent amount of creative control, they just don't make that central to selling the brand. Katy Perry has writing credits, and perhaps she's not as heavily contributing as Taylor, but I don't think they're BS for adding "la,la,la" either. Gaga is involved in writing and art direction, for better and worse. Beyonce may be a bit sketchy on the writing credit front, but I haven't seen anyone question her work ethic.Bieber, tool that he is, has got main writing credits for most of his songs and is willing to cultivate and interact with his crazy cult following (IMO that's a balancing act that many celebs can't handle). That other tool, Timberlake, has gotten a bit more relaxed, but his first two albums were very carefully crafted and executed, both content and promo. The only one I can think of who seems kinda driven more by her people than by her own ambition and who's not that involved in her music is Rihanna.
