Ok I am going to go against the grain here. The rape scene had zero impact on me. (I have not read the books) I watched and moved on to the next scene. It wasn't until I jumped online and saw a headline "Let's talk about THE SCENE from last nights Game of Thrones" that I had to search my brain because I had no clue what scene they could be talking about.
Listen, we are talking about a guy who pushed a kid out of a tower, has murdered many, has a sexual relationship with his sister that resulted in numerous kids that he doesn't give two shits about. Did anyone really think a romp across the countryside with Brienne was all of a sudden going to turn him into a good guy?

{Spoiler}So I guess we now know how baby white walkers are made. Though something tells me the kid is better off with the zombies than where he was. And who else wants to see Bran warg into Karl and force him to kill his fellow rapemonsters then himself? Just me on that last bit? Ok, I'll show myself out.

The stuff with the white-walkers is about the only thing that's keeping me tuned in. The stuff at the wall and with the wildlings is dry and boring. Bran's story is too vague and is taking too long. As is Dany's. The graphic, and repeated depictions of rape is nauseating, offensive, and unnecessary. I like the intrigue in King's Landing, but the bit with Tommen and Margaery was way too much. In the books it was depicted as slight manipulations. Tonight it looked like a sex predator creeping on a child. If it weren't for Arya and the white-walkers, I'd be forced to write this show off completely. This season has become a chore to watch. ETA: I missed the first 10 minutes of tonight's ep, and just got a chance to watch it. So add Grey Worm and Missandei to the reasons to keep watching. I love both of them. Plus Grey Worm is hot. When they do an Obama movie, I hope they hire him to play the lead.

I couldn't watch the baby stuff.

I'm doing my rewatch now, and two things that struck me:
1. You know the little kid that's at the wall now? The one whose hamlet was raided by the wildlings? The one whose father was shot in the face with an arrow by Ygritte? The one that was the best archer in his hamlet? He's going to be the one to kill Ygritte. With an arrow. They are telegraphing this stuff from a mile away.
2. I actually like the scene with Jaime and Brienne. Doesn't make up for last week in the last, but it was a good scene.

Big departures but I still enjoyed it. I'm glad Jon ditched the emo thing and is showing his leadership skills, and Jaime's scenes with Tyrion, Bronn, and Brienne were great (which makes last week's rape scene even more angry-making).
Finally I'm glad the show has some payoff for the White Walkers, since the books have all but forgotten them.

I liked all of Jaime's scenes - with Bronn, with Tyrion, with Brienne. Showed the way he's in a shitty position with his family, being the only one who actually likes Tyrion, but also showed that he's less than heroic, in that he didn't go see Tyrion until Bronn guilted him into it. But then he turns around and answers Cersei's request to kill Sansa by sending the best person he knows out to protect her. Shows he could truly be heroic if he ever truly believed that he can be and deserves to be.
Good scenes...kinda ruined by the memories of last week. The show really effed up on this front last week.
And yeah - I was practically yelling at the TV "Bran! Warg already! Warg into anything, anyone! Just kick their horrible, rapists asses!" What they were doing to Hodor was unforgivable.
I just noticed that Dany's necklace resembles a slave's collar. Man, she really knows how to play the PR game.
Grey Worm + Missandei 4-eva.

They've really dropped the ball on grief-stricken Cersei. I thought her scene with Jaime was terrible. I'm not sure what the problem is but it came off as empty melodrama. Such a stark contrast between Jaime's scenes with Brienne and, especially, Tyrion - which was sublime. Cersei and Jaime's relationship is supposed to be even more complicated than Jaime's relationship with Tyrion but their scenes just seem really blank - completely devoid of emotion when they should be rife with it. I'm not seeing how these two people were ever in love.
Everything that happens with the Wildings at the Wall is a mass of confusion for me. I cannot keep track of who everyone is and what is going on and I don't know that I care. Olenna is still my woman crush and I really hope Tyrion gets out of shackles soon. The stronger characters need to be front and center to make up for the more slow moving subplots. I hope Dany's story gets an infusion of... something. Her storyline used to be one of the most exciting but having the same thing happen in city after city doesn't make for riveting viewing.

You're not the only one to hope this happens. I just hope those assholes get what is coming to them for fucking with Hodor. And of course they had to show Craster's wives being raped. Their grim looks and what the others reported isn't enough? Ugh

I'm not seeing how these two people were ever in love. There's a scene in season 1 (that wasn't in the books) where Cersei and Robert talk about how their horrible marriage kept the realm together. I think it was Cersei's finest scene and in that moment Robert and Cersei had chemistry that Jaime and Cersei (on the show) never had. It made me think that if they both had tried a little harder their marriage could have worked. I tend to agree that Cersei/Jaime seem blank and I think it's because NCW and Lena Headey just don't click quite right.
